Richmond v Western Bulldogs betting tips and prediction; AFL round 4 preview 2022

Welcome to our Richmond v Western Bulldogs betting tips, prediction and odds analysis ahead of their AFL round 4 clash at the MCG on Saturday night.

This clash suddenly has added heat after these two pre-season flag fancies slumped to one win and two losses after three rounds, with the Tigers seemingly shot, with their talisman Dustin Martin taking personal leave.

However a win here, more positive news on the injury front, with Kane Lambert set to play VFL this week, and Martin returning could turn their campaign around.

The Bulldogs’ performance has been patchy at best over the opening three rounds, however they notched up their first win of the season last start, beating the Swans by 11 points and deserve to be favourite here.

Australian bookmakers have priced the Bulldogs at $1.49 to win, with the Tigers outsiders at $2.57. The $1.90 line has been set at 11.5, which looks pretty accurate to us.

Richmond has recalled star pair Jack Riewoldt and Dion Prestia after injury, while Ben Miller has also earned a recall. Injured Dylan Grimes and omitted pair Ivan Soldo and Jack Ross are the unlucky three to make way.

The Bulldogs have called up Bailey Williams, Louis Butler and Tim O’Brien, with Alex Keath and Zaine Cordy injured, with medi-sub Mitch Wallis and Roarke Smith omitted.

Richmond v Western Bulldogs tips

Our AFL betting expert has examined the markets and found some value Richmond v Western Bulldogs tips:

Jayden Short to have 30 touches

The Tigers bull has become a mainstay in their midfield this season and he had 31 touches against St Kilda last round. He is paying $2.10 to get a repeat dose here, a feat we are confident he can achieve even with Prestia back in the line-up.

Cody Weightman to kick 3+ goals

Richmond undoubtedly has some inexperience in their backline, which makes me think a smart player like Weightman could cash in. The Bulldogs should win this clash and we think it might be the smalls that chop the Tigers up. Weightman is paying a juicy $3.60 to kick 3+ goals.

Richmond vs Western Bulldogs prediction

We all expect the Western Bulldogs to fire at some point this season, they have too many good players not to. However if the Tigers don’t roar here, it is hard seeing them bounce back this year, particularly with the uncertainty surrounding Martin. The Bulldogs outstanding midfield will have too many tricks for a Tigers team that has lost a lot of its premiership sheen. Take the Bulldogs at the -11.5 line. Our final Richmond v Western Bulldogs prediction: Bulldogs by 19 points.
