Australian opener David Warner was left stranded as the Australian run chase fell short in PE, with the shift of wicketkeeper Alex Carey up the order failing to deliver the hoped for results.

Australian assistant coach Andrew McDonald did not rule out continuing to experiment with the batting line-up, with an eye to the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

“[Coach] Justin [Langer] wants the players to be flexible, we’re training them to be flexible and most of the time these guys have batted in all different situations and positions in the order,” McDonald told AAP.

“We’ll be flexible between four, five and six and I don’t think that’d be any different in Cape Town depending on the situation.”

For South Africa, they will be hoping to score a series win after recently losing a tight T20 series against England and drawing the ODI series against the world champions 1-1.

South Africa v Aus 3rd T20 betting tips

The second match was a cliff-hanger and hopefully the third match will be too. We have scoured the bookies’ odds to try to find some good value bets and win some real money. For more info read our guide to betting on cricket.

Andile Phehlukwayo most wickets for South Africa

While Phehlukwayo did not play in the second T20 International, don’t be surprised to see him back in the side for the decider as he is something of a Newlands specialist. He plays for the local team in the T20 domestic series so really has a handle on what works at the beautiful Newlands ground. You should be able to secure at least $5 for this outcome and if you are betting from South Africa check out the top ZA betting sites.

Steve Smith man of the match at $11

Smith is the real class batsman in the Australian side and batting may not be easy in this deciding clash. We always like to bet on the most solid players when the real prizes are on the line and, while Smith has not always been a T20 dominator, there’s no question of his ability to stay in. That will be crucial to Australia’s chances.

South Africa v Australia predictions – 3rd T20, Feb 26, 2020

As shown by the first two T20s, a lot rests on the shoulders of the brilliant left-handed opener and skipper Quinton de Kock. If the Australians can dismiss him early, chances are they will win the match. He has had a wonderful summer though even if the rest of the team has not been up for the battle. Good punting.
