South Africa v Sri Lanka betting guide

South Africa has been installed a short-priced favourite to win the second Test against Sri Lanka, and complete a 2-0 series sweep, at St George’s Park from Thursday.

The Proteas dismantled the Sri Lankans in the opening Test in an impressive display, but suffered several key injuries in a match, highlighted by Marco Jansen’s 11 wickets.

Despite the Gerald Coetzee (groin) and Wiaan Mulder (finger) injuries, South Africa has been installed a 1.33 favourite to defeat the Sri Lankans(4.40) with Betway South Africa.

The Proteas appear likely to call up paceman Quinton Mafaka or Kwena Maphaka to replace Coetzee, while 26-year-old Matthew Breetzke is set to gain a second Test cap and and replace Mulder

Sri Lanka will be reeling after being dismissed for their lowest ever Test score of 42 in the first innings of the first Test. Despite this, they will take solace from the 282 they scored in the second innings, which helped them get within 233 runs of the hosts.

The performance of star bat Dinesh Chandimal, who scored 83 from no.3 in the second innings, will also hearten them after he moved up the order. But they will be hopeful emerging star Kamindu Mendis will perform better in the second Test.

Proteas v Lions best bet tips

Here are our free South Africa v Sri Lanka tips for the second Test.

Kagiso Rabada to win man of the match

Rabada may have been outshone by Jansen in the first Test, but he is without a doubt the Proteas bowling barometer. Rabada is lightning quick, gets serious bounce and looms as big threat after an unlucky first Test. He is paying 2.60 to get most wickets in the opening innings and 6.00 to win man of the match.

Kamindu Mendis to top-score in Sri Lanka first innings

The Sri Lankans star may have missed out in the opening Test, but we’re backing him to bounce back in the second Test. He is paying 5.20 to top-score in the opening innings, and if he missed out there, we will back him in again in the second innings.

South Africa v Sri Lanka prediction

South Africa has all of the momentum heading into this match and after the struggles of the Sri Lankans against their tall bowling attack, it’s hard seeing them recover, despite the Coetzee injury. While the Sri Lankans are improving and have some serious talent, like Mendis, we think they will be better for the run here. Our final South Africa v Sri Lanka prediction? Proteas by 10 wickets or 200 runs.
