The series serves as a key warm-up for the T20 World Cup which will be played in the USA and Caribbean next month.

The Windies have named a 15-man squad for the South African chellenge, with several stars rested or unavailable because of Indian Premier League commitments.

Brandon King is set to skipper the Windies, with captain skipper Rovman Powell rested, while top order stars Shai Bolton and Nicholas Pooran will also sit the matches out after a hectic IPL schedule. Alzarri Joseph and Sherfane Rutherford are both still playing with their club sides in the IPL and will also miss the Proteas series.

There is scant information about the Proteas squad, with just a provisional squad with a caveat about the IPL and availability attached to it, although David Miller and Aiden Markram are confirmed outs.

West Indies v South Africa betting tips

South Africa deserves favouritism in this series despite being on the road against the West Indies. The Proteas will be desperate to play well in the conditions ahead of next month’s World Cup and we expect them to win the series. Bet on them to win the opener with confidence, with the Windies seemingly impacted more by IPL unavailability. Our bet: South Africa to win at 1.65 with Betway.

South African Reeza Hendricks is ranked ninth in the world as a T20 batsman and with Aiden Markram and Rilee Russouw out, the 34-year-old is likely to get plenty of chances in this series. Even if Hendricks fails to impress in the opener, continue to back him in the next two matches. Hendricks is paying around the 3.50 quote to score 50, which are nice odds for this guy.

Akeal Hosein is the no.3 ranked bowler in T20 cricket and looms as a big shot of topping the Windies wickets in all three matches (if he plays them). The white ball spinner has become a formidable T20 bowler and should be able to cash in against a weak looking Proteas batting line-up.
