Pakistan v Australia T20 series betting tips and predictions
Welcome to our Pakistan v Australia betting tips and predictions for their three match series being played as a key warm-up for next month’s T20 World Cup.
Australia is priced at 1.58 to win the opening match, being played on Thursday at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the Pakistanis outsiders at 2.34 with leading cricket betting sites.
Both teams are expected to use these three matches to experiment and give players some exposure to conditions in the sub-continent, but they will be keen to win given the T20 World Cup kicks off on February 7.
Australia’s batsmen will be nervous and keen for runs in Pakistan after selectors opted to leave the red-hot Steve Smith in Australia, with his World Cup hopes hanging by a thread, despite an outstanding summer with the bat.
Fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Patrick Cummins and big-hitting batsmen Tim David and Glenn Maxwell have also been left out of the Pakistan series, but should be fit for the tournament in India and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan has issues of its own after the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hinted they were considering withdrawing from the World Cup, or at the very least not playing their clash against India, due to be played on February 16, over security concerns.
“It was agreed that the final decision will be taken either on Friday or next Monday,” he said.
This follows on from Bangladesh sensationally withdrawing from the event over security concerns, after the ICC refused to let them play their matches in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan will be hopeful that experienced bat Babar Azam can put his recent controversy in Australia behind him, after he left the Big Bash early to join his teammates to prepare for the World Cup. Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named to take on the Aussies after overcoming a knee injury suffered in December while playing for the Brisbane Heat.

Pakistan v Australia T20 tips
Our cricket betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Pakistan v Australia tips:
Mitchell Marsh to top-score in Australia’s innings
Marsh is a huge presence at the top of the Australian batting line-up, with the power hitter needing a big World Cup if his team is to win the tournament. He will be keen for a tune-up against Pakistan after leading his team to another BBL title with Perth Scorchers.
Marsh will be among the favourites to top the Aussie bats in all three clashes against Pakistan and usually gives you a good run.
Sahibzada Farhan to top-score for Pakistan
The Pakistani wicket-keeper is among the world’s best T20 batsmen and has fired against the Aussies in the past. He will enjoy the Australians heavily weakened bowling attack. Farhan is equal favourite with Azam at 4.10 to top-score for the Pakistanis.
Mohammad Nawaz to take most wickets
The Pakistani spinner will have a big say in this series, if he plays all matches, given the impending World Cup. Nawaz is always a good bet for most wickets when his team plays in Pakistan. He is paying a juicy 7.75 to top their wickets in match one.
Pakistan v Australia series prediction
Australia might be the favourite with cricket betting sites, but Pakistan in their home conditions, against a weakened Australian line-up are our pick in this three match series. With it meaning little, other than giving players practice before the big dance, we expect plenty of experimentation from Australia, which could lead to an upset series win for the locals. Our final Pakistan v Australia series prediction? Pakistan to win series 2-1.
