The PGA’s Players Championship event has once again attracted one of the strongest fields in golf. Often described as the most prestigious tournament outside of the four majors, the 2026 edition features an elite lineup with 19 of the world’s top 20 players and 46 of the top 50 set to tee it up at the famous Florida venue.
While the Players Championship field is stacked, several notable names will not be competing. Tiger Woods, a two-time winner of the event, is absent as he continues his recovery from back surgery and was not qualified for the tournament. LIV Golf players remain ineligible due to PGA Tour suspensions, keeping a number of high-profile figures out of the field.
Patrick Reed, currently ranked 20th in the world after strong results on the DP World Tour, is among the highest-ranked players missing. Others absent include Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, former champion Matt Kuchar and Billy Horschel, who failed to qualify after finishing outside the FedEx Cup cut-off last season.
Injuries and form have also sidelined players such as Will Zalatoris and Tom Kim, leaving The Players Championship to proceed without several familiar names despite its typically deep field.

Best bet: Ludvig Aberg to win at $23
It’s seemingly only a matter of time Aberg’s pure ball-striking and putting and cool demeanour deliver him a major title. And before he does win one of the big four, why not the unofficial fifth major. Scheffler has not been his dominant self in recent weeks and McIlroy withdrew last weekend with a dodgy back, the leaves the slightest of gaps for one of the other true guns on tour to step up. He found some of his best form at Bay Hill last weekend, putting him back in form for a tilt here and then the Masters.
Value bet: Min Woo Lee top five at $7.50
The popular Australian has been on a heater in the past month with a tied second at Pebble Beach and then tying for sixth last week. Has played well at this course previously and is ready to step up alongside Aberg as the man most likely to a win a major title.
Best Players Championship roughie: Corey Conners each-way
You can find at least $67 about the Canadian to win this tournament where he has a consistent record without challenging. Conners has long been regarded as one of the game’s best ball strikers. The tougher the conditions the better for this guy.
