Ballarat track not ready, Tuesday’s meeting switched to Horsham
Racing Victoria has transferred next Tuesday’s Sportsbet-Ballarat synthetic meeting to Horsham after officials determined the resurfaced Ballarat track requires more time before returning to racing.
The May 19 meeting was originally scheduled for Ballarat’s synthetic circuit, however the track’s supplier advised that the newly completed surface still needs additional consolidation and settling time.

Ballarat Turf Club accepted the recommendation, with Racing Victoria confirming the next synthetic meeting at the venue on June 9 will proceed as planned.
The relocation to Horsham has also resulted in four distance changes to the race program.
To accommodate the venue switch, nominations have been reopened until 4pm on Thursday, while the acceptance deadline remains unchanged at 9:15am on Friday, May 15.
Ballarat’s synthetic track recently underwent a full resurfacing as part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades designed to maintain reliable racing during Victoria’s wetter winter period.
Ballarat and Horsham are roughly two hours drive apart, meaning there is a strong chance some horses scheduled for Ballarat, will withdraw.
