Playson expands footprint in Philippines

Players in the Philippines could soon gain access to a wider range of international online casino titles after Playson secured approval from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to distribute its games in the country’s regulated market.

The approval, achieved alongside aggregation partner Light & Wonder, allows Playson’s casino games to be supplied to licensed operators across the Philippines, further strengthening the country’s rapidly expanding regulated online gaming sector.

Playson said the integration was completed within days and required minimal infrastructure changes, with the supplier’s platform already aligned with PAGCOR’s technical requirements. Playson currently operates across 27 regulated markets globally.

“Securing PAGCOR approval is an important step in Playson’s continued regulated-market growth,” Chief Commercial Officer at Playson Ben Wood said.

“The Philippines represents an exciting opportunity for the business, and we are delighted to have achieved this milestone in cooperation with our valued aggregation partner, Light & Wonder.

“This approval reflects the strength of our platform, the readiness of our technology and the expertise of the teams involved. We are proud to bring Playson’s product suite to a new audience and to further strengthen our international presence.”

The Philippines accelerated its regulated online gambling push during the COVID-19 pandemic, with PAGCOR introducing the Philippine Inland Gaming Operator (PIGO) framework in 2020 to allow licensed casino operators to offer remote gaming to local players. Since then, the market has evolved into one of Asia’s fastest-growing regulated online gaming jurisdictions.

Major brands active in the regulated Philippine market include DigiPlus Interactive and its popular BingoPlus platform, along with integrated resort operators Solaire Resort, Newport World Resorts and Okada Manila, which have all expanded their online gaming presence under PAGCOR oversight.

The market has also attracted some of the world’s biggest gaming technology suppliers and aggregators. Besides Light & Wonder, other major iGaming software groups with products available or licensed in the Philippines include Evolution Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Playtech, Spribe and PG Soft, as suppliers race to capitalise on surging demand for regulated online casino content across Southeast Asia.

Light & Wonder recently became the first PAGCOR-licensed international iGaming supplier and aggregator in the Philippines, with the company revealing operators in the market would gain access to more than 5,000 games from over 100 providers through its platform.

The latest approval further expands Playson’s footprint in Asia and underlines the Philippines’ growing status as a key regulated online gaming hub in the region.
