Spribe wins Curacao legal battle over Aviator trademark
Spribe has claimed another legal victory in the global battle over the hugely successful Aviator crash game after a court in Curaçao invalidated two Aviator trademark registrations held by rival company Aviator LLC.
Spribe, the company behind the globally popular Aviator crash game, is embroiled in a worldwide legal dispute with Georgia-based Aviator LLC, which claims ownership of the Aviator brand and is seeking to commercialise its own version of the game.
The Court of First Instance of Curaçao ruled that the trademarks should be removed from the territory’s intellectual property register, handing a default judgment to Spribe after Aviator LLC, a Tbilisi-based company, failed to appear in court despite being formally summoned.
The dispute centres on ownership of the Aviator name, one of the best-known brands in online gambling. Spribe, which developed the original crash game, argues the Curaçao trademarks were registered without its consent. The court agreed, striking both registrations from the register and ordering Aviator LLC to pay Spribe’s legal costs.
The latest ruling adds another chapter to a complex international legal battle that has stretched across several jurisdictions. Aviator LLC previously won a significant case in Georgia, where courts ruled in its favour over copyright claims and awarded it US$330 million in damages. However, Spribe has enjoyed greater success in the UK, where the High Court blocked Aviator LLC from launching a rival Aviator-branded game while ownership of the intellectual property remains unresolved.
Spribe told the Curaçao court it has now filed more than 120 trademark opposition actions worldwide against Aviator LLC as both companies continue to fight for control of one of the online gaming industry’s most valuable brands. A full UK trial over ownership of the Aviator name is expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
The legal battle dates back to 2019, when Spribe developed the original Aviator crash game for Georgian betting operator Adjarabet. Since then, the parties have become embroiled in a global dispute over who owns the Aviator brand and the rights to commercially exploit one of online gambling’s most successful games.
