AFL Round 10 odds and Betting Preview

Geelong will enter their AFL round 10 blockbuster against Brisbane as underdogs on Thursday night, despite the reigning premier’s lengthy injury list.

The Cats are priced at 2.70 to defeat the Lions (1.46) despite Chris Fagan’s team missing a host of first-choice players, including Oscar Allen and Lincoln McCarthy (hamstring), who went down in their win over Carlton.

The Cats are also missing several important jigsaw pieces, with Jack Henry and Mark Blicavs listed as tests. They could however be boosted by the inclusion of Gryan Miers, who returned from his partial rupture of his ACL in the VFL.

“They will definitely be in our squad, we are on the road tomorrow and unless something happens between now and when our plane leaves they will be on it,” Geelong coach Chris Scott said.

Scott said he was still undecided on his ruckmen Rhys Stanley and Mitch Edwards ahead of the Lions clash, describing their selection as “horses for courses”.

“Which way we go we haven’t decided yet,” he said.

Meanwhile, on Friday night, Sydney (1.20 with Australian betting sites) will be boosted by star recruit Charlie Curnow for their clash against struggling Collingwood (4.60). The Magpies have also confirmed Scott Pendlebury will sit the match out ahead of breaking the all-time AFL games record against West Coast

Gold Coast (1.25) faces a tricky clash against Port Adelaide (4.00), but their Brownlow Medal winner Matt Rowell a chance of returning, but they have lost Ethan Read with a knee injury.

In the early game on Saturday, North Melbourne (3.05) will enter their clash against Adelaide (1.38) as underdogs, but they could be boosted by Tom Powell, who missed their loss to Sydney with a groin complaint.

Melbourne (3.10) will hope to continue their run of beating top teams, when they clash with Hawthorn (1.36), with Caleb Windsor in some doubt, but they will be boosted by the inclusion of Daniel Turner, who missed the Eagles win with illness.

Carlton (2.60) will be hoping for a spike in form after the removal of coach Michael Voss in their clash against the Western Bulldogs (1.50), with former Magpie Josh Fraser set to lead them for the remainder of the season.

On Sunday, Essendon (5.50) faces the daunting task of Fremantle (1.15) with the only saving grace being that it is in Melbourne. The Bombers injury list beginning to look horrific with Dyson Sharp and Zac Johnson going down on the weekend. Dockers defender Alex Pearce is set to miss a month with a knee injury, with Hugh Davies his likely replacement.

St Kilda (1.10) will not be able to call on the flying viking Alix Tauru for their clash against Richmond (6.80) after he was rubbed out in the VFL.

West Coast (4.40) will attempt to notch up their third win of the season against GWS (1.22) in the final match of AFL round 10. The Eagles have suffered a blow with Harry Edwards suffering another concussion, leaving them threadbare for key defensive stocks.
