Atlantic City casinos raise funds to solve hunger

Atlantic City’s casino industry has raised nearly $400,000 for hunger relief since launching its Casinos Unite Against Hunger campaign in May 2025, helping provide more than 1.2 million meals across South Jersey.

The milestone was announced during the inaugural Meal on a Mission: A Chef’s Tableside Experience, held June 12 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.

During the event, Atlantic City casinos collectively donated almost $120,000 to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, including $50,000 from the Casino Association of New Jersey and $50,000 from Hard Rock in celebration of its eighth anniversary.

CANJ president George Goldhoff said the partnership was creating a lasting impact for families facing food insecurity.

“Meal on a Mission is a powerful example of what can happen when the Atlantic City community comes together around a common goal,” he said.

“Through our partnership with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Atlantic City’s casino industry is helping to create a meaningful, lasting impact for our families facing food insecurity throughout our region.”

CFBNJ president and CEO Elizabeth McCarthy said the support was critical as many families continue to struggle with rising living costs, housing pressures and food insecurity across the state.

“Every day, too many individuals and families around New Jersey face difficult choices between paying bills, keeping a roof over their heads, and putting food on the table,” she said.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of organizations like the Casino Association of New Jersey as we work to eliminate hunger in the Garden State.”
