Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs betting tips for AFL preliminary final 2021

Welcome to our Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs tips, prediction and odds analysis for their AFL preliminary final at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

The Power will enter the clash as heavy favourites after defeating Geelong in their qualifying final, to move straight into a preliminary final, while the Bulldogs have won successive games against Essendon and Brisbane to navigate their path.

The Power won the last clash between the two clubs, which came just weeks ago in round 23, by two points; however the Dogs won their round 9 clash by 19 points.

Australian betting sites have installed the Power at $1.45 to win this clash, with the Bulldogs ($2.78) not finding much love with punters. The $1.90 line has been set at 13.5 points, while the over/under mark for match total is at 157.5.

The Power have talented forward Mitch Georgiades available for this clash after a hamstring injury, although coach Ken Hinkley may be reluctant to tinker with their forward line. They will also strongly consider tough midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper who has fallen out of favour in the second half of the season.

The Western Bulldogs have suffered several blows with young star Cody Weightman ruled out with concussion, but they are confident skipper Marcus Bontempelli will play, despite a knee injury. We are predicting last week’s medical sub Jason Johannisen and veteran ruckman Stefan Martin to earn call-ups.

Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs tips

Our AFL betting expert has examined the odds and found some value Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs tips:

Jack Macrae & Ollie Wines to both reach 30+ possessions

Why fix what is not broken? Brownlow Medal contenders Macrae and Wines have been cash cows in our same game multis all year and we will go down this path again. In possessions betting we really expect Dogs aces Josh Dunkley and Adam Treloar to burst out of their funk sooner rather than later and both are at big odds to win lots of the ball.

Tim English to kick 3+ goals

Lewis Young has been okay alongside Tim English but we think if Martin is included, it would signficantly free up their young tall to play more up front, in the absence of the injured Josh Bruce. While this Power v Dogs tip is speculative, English to kick 3+ goals is paying a juicy $8.50. Keep an eye on selection as Jamarra Ugle-Hagan could also come into contention.

Port Adelaide to win 1-39 points

The Power are arguably the form team in the competition, but it’s hard seeing the Bulldogs get blown away with so much talent around the ball. Take the Power to win by 1-39 points with confidence.

Port Adelaide v Bulldogs prediction 11/9/2021

Big wins in finals from outside the top four seem to come naturally for the Western Bulldogs, but they are running into a team bursting with fitness and form on their home deck. While a positive start and tough opening half is expected, we think the Power’s fresher legs and fewer injury concerns will get them home. Our final Power v Bulldogs prediction? Power by 14 points.
