Australia v France 3rd Rugby Test betting preview, tips 2021

Wallabies v Les Bleus 3rd Rugby Test

Australia and France clash in the third and deciding Test of their three-Test series at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday, July 17.

Les Bleus sent the series to a decider with their thrilling 28-26 win in Melbourne on Tuesday night as they chase an unlikely series win in Australia with a second-string squad.

Bookmakers have stuck with the error-prone Wallabies as hot favourites at around the $1.45 mark, but they were much shorter for the opening two Tests.

There is great value for those who think France can repeat the dose and there is not much evidence to suggest the Wallabies will suddenly click into gear and win easily as was expected before the series began.

Australia coach Dave Rennie has reacted savagely with eight changes to the team that lost in Melbourne, with the main one coming at scrum-half where Tate McDermott comes off the bench in place of Jake Gordon.

McDermott is seen as a dynamic runner but lacking the kicking game to do too much damage.

Fiery forward Lachie Swinton, who was sent off on debut against the All Blacks last year, has been recalled to the starting team, with Rob Valetini moving back to the bench.

Regular No.8 Harry Wilson is rested for this match, with Isi Naisarani moving into the starting side. Darcy Swain gains his first start in the second row.

In the back line, veteran inside-centre Matt To’omua drops to the bench and winger Tom Wright dropped from the team, with Filipo Daugunu  the new winger and Len Ikitau joining the centres.

France have thrown Antoine Hastoy into the furnace at No.10 for his debut, among seven changes Fabien Galthie has made to his starting side backing up after just four days. Hastoy replaces Louis Carbonel at fly-half.

Among the other changes winger Teddy Thomas, who missed the first two Tests, replaces first-Test two-try hero Gabin Villiere in the team.

Betting tips for Australia v France rugby 3rd Test

Our rugby betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Wallabies-Les Bleus tips:

Wallabies -5.5 points/match total over 47.5 points

The weather is clear and the Wallabies will be fired up to avoid what would be a humiliating reversal on home soil. We like the move of bringing Tate McDermott into the starting side as he seems to make things happen and really adds some speed to the play. That energy has been sorely lacking.

Marika Koroibete first try-scorer at $9

The powerful winger is Australian’s most potent attacking weapon and he really gets involved in the game at every opportunity. The French know what a dangerous, world-class player he is but sometimes you just have to go with the obvious and we think he is the man to get the Wallabies off to a flyer.

Australia v France rugby prediction 17/7/2021

With the All Blacks Tests looming, the Wallabies need to start stringing together their best form. They were their own worst enemies in Melbourne, with the French fullback Melvyn Jaminet punishing them mercilessly with a wonderful kicking display. We think the Wallabies will finally start to gel, and the start will be all important. The Australian rugby public expects better than what they saw in Melbourne. Our final Australia v France prediction: Wallabies to win by 10 points.
