Australia v India 1st ODI: betting tips, prediction & odds

Australia v India ODI, SCG

Welcome to our Australia v India betting tips, winner prediction and odds analysis for the opening One-Day International at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday, November 27.

This match launches the international summer of cricket in Australia, and also a fascinating series between two of the big guns of world cricket.

Australia and India will clash in three ODIs, three T20 Internationals and then four Tests, though some gloss has been removed from the Test series with India captain Virat Kohli to fly home after the first Test to be present at the birth of his child.

Australian had six limited-over matches in England during the northern hemisphere summer, where they lost the T20 series 2-1 and scored a miraculous 2-1 in the ODI series against the reigning world champions.

India have not played international cricket since the first ODI of their series against the touring South Africans was abandoned without a ball being bowled in March. But their players are battle-hardened from playing the recent Indian Premier League in the UAE.

India are missing mainstay Rohit Sharma (hamstring) and he is facing a race against time and biosecurity measures to be available for the Test series.

Dashing opener Shikhar Dhawan was the highest run-scorer in the IPL so looms as the danger man early for India, while KL Rahul has previously proven a great foil at the top of the order.

But as always Kohli, who eight centuries and eight 50s in 38 innings Down Under, is the key scalp for the Australian bowlers.

Australia are missing injured all-rounder Mitchell Marsh from the team that beat England in the final ODI in England, with master batsman Steve Smith slotting back, although boom all-rounder Cameron Green could also get a chance during the first three ODIs.

Australia v India betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Australia v India tips for Friday’s ODI opener.

Mohammed Shami top wicket-taker for India

Jasprit Bumrah is a superstar and rated the No.2 bowler in ODIs behind New Zealander Tren Boult on the latest ICC rankings. But Shami just has this incredible knack of making the breakthroughs. The Australians will be most watchful against Bumrah and that may allow Shami to slip under their guard.

Steve Smith top run-scorer for Australia

Smith had a poor IPL by his standards but he has poured in the hours and said during the week he felt he had rediscovered his touch. It will help that he is back on home soil and we expect Smith to excel during this three-match ODI portion of the series at the very least. He is a top-class player.

Australia v India prediction 27/11/2020

India just do not have the same rock-solid look at the top with Rohit Sharma missing the early part of the tour. Their line-up looks like a rock star T20 side but these 50-over matches are a far greater examination of concentration and discipline. This should be a belter of a match with good conditions forecast an we expect Australia to relish being back in front of a home crowd. Our final Australia v India prediction: Australia to win comfortably.
