Australia v India 1st T20 International: betting tips, prediction & odds

Australia v India T20 game one.

Welcome to our Australia v India betting tips, winner prediction and odds analysis for the first T20 International at Manuka Oval, Canberra, on Friday, December 4.

There is little time for the teams to regroup, with the ODI series finishing up at the same ground on Wednesday. Australia won the ODI component of the tour 2-1, after India won the final match at Manuka Oval on Wednesday.

Australia will have had to dig deep into their squad with four players unavailable after Ashton Agar, the third-ranked T20 bowler on the latest ICC rankins, suffered a calf injury on Wednesday.

Opener David Warner (groin), Mitchell Starc (side) and Pat Cummins (rested) are all out of play as they strive to be at 100 per cent for the looming first Test in Adelaide.

Australia experimented with Marnus Labuschagne opening on Wednesday alongside T20 superstar Aaron Finch, but could bring in dashing D’Arcy Short for this opening T20. The team is unlikely to be finalised until just before the match.

A pleasant, sunny day is forecast for Canberra, a change from the searing heat the players have been subjected to in the ODI series.

Australia are second and India third in the latest ICC T20 rankings so this promises to be a great series with some of the very best short-form players on the planet engaged.

Australia v India betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Australia v India tips for Friday’s first T20 International.

Mohammed Shami top wicket-taker for India

Shami was rested for the final ODI on Wednesday so should be fresh for a big display. Shami seems to excel under Australian conditions. We were strong on him in the ODI series and he did not let us down so we will stick here for the opening T20. He is an out-and-out wicket-taker.

D’Arcy Short top Australian run-scorer

The left-hander is a T20 phenomenon under Australian conditions at least. Short has not produced his best in the IPL but on bouncy Australian pitches he can be devastating batsman. Check the teams before the game obviously. Short may also get a bowl as he has proved difficult to get away in the past so could be a worth a small wager in player of the match calculations.

Australia v India prediction 4/12/2020

These are two of the best teams in the shortest form of the game. India will take some confidence out of their win in the final ODI on Wednesday. Their batsmen have been good so far, so if Bumrah and co can find their range, they will be so difficult to beat. Our final Australia v India prediction: India to win in a high-scoring contest.
