Australia v India 2nd ODI: betting tips, prediction & odds

Australia v India T20 game one.

Welcome to our Australia v India betting tips, winner prediction and odds analysis for the second One-Day International at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 29.

Australia won the opening encounter on a flat pitch at the SCG by 66 runs after winning the toss and batting and amassing an imposing total of 6-374.

India batted admirably in their enormous chase but their lack of bowling firepower looms as a real concern heading into the last two matches. They cannot afford to allow openers Aaron Finch and David Warner get the Australians off to such a great start again, as once those two set a platform, the likes of Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell can be devastating.

The Australian batsmen saw off Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami without too much trouble, though the latter snared three wickets to deliver as the leading wicket-taker for India.

Australia are likely to be forced into one change for the second match after all-rounder Marcus Stoinis pulled up short while bowling on Friday night.

Stoinis suffered only a minor side strain, but is unlikely to be risked just 48 hours later and the Australian team has plenty of suitable replacements.

They could grant a debut to towering West Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who stands at two metres tall, bowls at 140kmh-plus and hits the ball with great power.

They also have bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott, class spinner Ashton Agar, and NSW veteran Moises Henriques waiting in the wings.

Australia v India betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Australia v India tips for Sunday’s second ODI.

Mitchell Starc player of the match at $13

The lanky left-armer copped a bit of tap in the opening match on Friday but he is a proud player and will be much better for that hitout. We expect him to turn it around here, and after a couple more days of baking heat and overcast conditions he could get his swing working. Starc at his best is a fearsome bowl; he is at $3.75 to be leading wicket-taker for Australia and up to $13 for man of the match with Unibet. Both offer good value.

Mohammed Shami top wicket-taker for India

The hardy paceman did the business for us by taking three wickets in the opening ODI and there is no reason he can’t repeat the dose here. As we mentioned in our preview for the first match, Shami has the wonderful knack of taking wickets even as he is proving somewhat expensive. He is always dangerous and we are happy to stay with him on the same pitch.

Australia v India prediction 29/11/2020

The Indian bowling line-up, even with the great Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge, just lacked penetration on Friday. This pitch may well play a little differently and allow India’s spinner to have more of a say. But with the Australian top three of Finch, Warner and Smith all looking in great touch, unless the tourists can make some early inroads they could be in for a tough time again. India are a great side and in Virat Kohli have a player rated among the best of his generation. They need him to get among the runs this time. Our final Australia v India prediction: Australia to win in a much tighter game than the ODI opener.
