Australia v India 2nd T20 International: betting tips, prediction & odds

Australia v India second T20 tips

Welcome to our Australia v India betting tips, winner prediction and odds analysis for the second T20 International at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday, December 6.

India have seized a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series with their impressive bowling performance to win the opening T20 International by 11 runs in Canberra on Friday night.

Now we head back to the flat SCG wicket which was a graveyard for bowlers in the ODI series won 2-1 by Australia.

Australia have suffered another injury blow with captain and star opening batsman Aaron Finch injuring his hip on Friday and in doubt for the remaining two matches. ”It’s a bit of a hip or glute [problem], we’ll wait and see,” Finch said after the match. “It progressively got worse throughout the game.”

If Finch is unavailable, keeper Matthew Wade is likely to step up as captain and could also open the innings.

The Australians have already lost spinner Ashton Agar (calf), opener David Warner (groin), all-rounder Marcus Stoinis (side) and Pat Cummins (rested) from this series.

India have some injury concerns of their own. Ravindra Jadeja (concussion) has been ruled out of the final two matches of the T20 series.

Jadeja was injured while batting when the ball shot up off his bat into his helmet, but also suffered a hamstring problem. He was substituted out of the match; leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal came in as his sub and produced a match-winning man of the match display with 3-25.

Bowler Shardul Thakur has been added to the India T20 squad as Jadeja’s replacement.

Australia v India betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Australia v India tips for Sunday’s second T20 International.

D’Arcy Short top-scorer for Australia

We tipped Short to top-score in the opening match for Australia and he missed out by a single run. We will stick with the left-hander for this second match as he was not his usual fluent self in game one and he should really appreciate being back on the fast and true SCG pitch. At his best Short is an incredible batsman in this form of the game.

Virat Kohli top-scorer for India

The great man has threatened but not quite delivered on this tour so far but he has a chance here to put Australia to the sword and seal the series with one of his masterful knocks. He’s a big-time performer and no surprise here if he cuts loose, with the Australian attack struggling for consistency.

Australia v India prediction 6/12/2020

Obviously before you even consider placing a bet on the outcome of this match, check the final teams as there could be significant changes. The loss of Finch for example would really be a problem for Australia as much of their limited-overs success is built around Finch and his long-time opening partner David Warner. If they are both missing it gives the Australian team a much different look. However, the Australians do relish playing at the SCG and there should be a fair crowd in. A capacity crowd will be allowed for Tuesday’s third and final match and we have our fingers crossed that it is a decider. Our final Australia v India prediction: Australia to win and level the series.
