Australia v India 3rd ODI: betting tips, prediction & odds

Australia v India 3rd ODI

Welcome to our Australia v India betting tips, winner prediction and odds analysis for the third One-Day International at Manuka Oval, Canberra, on Wednesday, December 2.

Australia have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series but have been hit hard by an injury to star opener David Warner heading into the final ODI and then the three-match T20 series.

Warner suffered a groin/adductor injury in the second match at the SCG on Sunday and faces a race against time to be fit for the first Test against India at Adelaide Oval starting on December 17.

Paceman Pat Cummins will also be rested for the final ODI and the T20s to prepare for the opening Test.

In the short term, Australia seem likely to use Matthew Wade in Warner’s place, though another dashing left-hander in D’Arcy Short has been added to the squad. They could also opt to switch wicketkeeper Alex Carey from the middle order to opening.

Australia are already without all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who pulled up short while bowling on Friday night.

India’s bowlers, and Australia’s for that matter, will be relieved to head to Canberra given the dominance of bat over ball in those first two matches. More than 1400 runs were scored, an average of over 350 per innings.

There have been no ODIs played at Manuka Oval since 2016. In the most recent match there, Australia scored 5-378 in crushing New Zealand.

In the match before that at Manuka, Australia defeated India by 25 runs, with Australia making 8-348 (Aaron Finch made a century) and India replying with 323, with both Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan racking up triple figures. Another run-fest could be on the cards.

Australia v India betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Australia v India tips for Wednesday’s third ODI.

Steve Smith man of the match at $8

The Australian ace has been in sublime form and averages almost 100 in three ODI matches at this ground. Smith has been player of the match with centuries in the first two matches so what’s to stop him making it a hat-trick? Get on board!

Mohammed Shami top ticket-taker for India

We struck with the underrated Indian paceman in the opening match and he was equal top wicket-taker in the second. The Manuka Oval pitch will hopefully offer the bowlers a little more assistance.

Australia v India prediction 2/12/2020

The loss of Warner looms as important though the home team has players lining up to get involved in the recent runs bonanza. For their part India can’t afford to let the Australian opening pair dominate again as Warner and Finch have done so far. Check the teams in the lead-up to the match but we think Australia will roll on with another win. They are hard to beat at home at the best of times and have struck a rich vein of form in the ODI arena. Our final Australia v India prediction: Australia to win by 20 runs/5 wickets.
