Betway signs former Real Madrid ace Guti as brand ambassador
Betway has strengthened its push into the Spanish betting market ahead of the World Cup after signing former Real Madrid star Guti as a new brand ambassador for Betway Spain.
The partnership links the online bookmaker with one of Real Madrid’s most recognisable modern-era players, with Guti spending 15 years in the club’s senior side after progressing through the Spanish giant’s academy system.
The midfielder played 542 matches for Real Madrid between 1995 and 2010, winning 15 major trophies and scoring 77 goals during one of the club’s most successful periods. He also represented Spain 13 times between 1999 and 2005 before finishing his playing career with Turkish side Besiktas.
Betway Spain marketing manager Ignacio Alonso described Guti as “one of the greatest legends in Real Madrid’s recent history”, adding that his image aligns with the bookie’s focus on “excellence” and “talent”.
Since retiring, Guti has moved into coaching and football media punditry, becoming a well-known figure across Spanish football coverage.
The deal continues Betway’s strategy of using high-profile football figures to strengthen brand visibility in regulated European betting markets, particularly in football-focused jurisdictions such as Spain.
Betting sites are expecting a major influx of wagering during the six week World Cup tournament that kicks off on June 11, with various free bet promotions and bonus offers up for grabs.
