England v Australia 3rd ODI betting tips & prediction

Eng v Aus betting tips, prediction and odds; 3rd ODI preview 16/9

Welcome to our England v Australia betting tips, prediction & odds update for the third one-dayer at Old Trafford on Wednesday, September 16.

England squared the ODI series 1-1 on Sunday after they batted first, posted a modest total of 9-231 and then the Australians collapsed in their run chase, at one stage losing 7-23. That match means the past eight ODIs at Old Trafford have been won by the team batting first.

There is plenty on the line here in the deciding match as England, of course, are the world champions in the 50-over format, and the old enemy Australia would love to show them up on home turf. Also, England won the T20 series last week 2-1 and the tourists do not want to leave empty-handed.

Of course, the third and deciding match will be played at the same ground as the first two, and though the weather is expected to be overcast, no rain is expected.

The leg-spinners Adil Rashid for England and Adam Zampa for Australia have been dangerous in the first two matches, though it was paceman Jofra Archer who caused the most problems for the Australian batsmen.

Last summer Australian opener David Warner was completely mesmerised by veteran England bowler Stuart Broad as the left-hander had one of the worst series on record. He also struggled against Archer and this time around, with no Broad, Archer has taken over the mantle and the usually free-flowing Warner has looked out of sorts.

Nonetheless, Australia will likely retain Warner for the final match, with Steve Smith available again after suffering a concussion at training late last week. He could be included in the team, and it’s worth checking in the hours leading up to the match as Smith would give the Australian batting order a real injection of class.

England v Australia tips – 3rd ODI

Here are our best bets for the 3rd one-day international between England and Australia at Old Trafford:

Jason Roy man of the match

Roy is one of those devastating batsmen who can be a bit hit or miss. He looked in great touch early against Australia before he was so brilliantly run out. If he fires England probably wins the match as he has the ability to score heavily in quick time. He is the key man Australia need to dismiss early but we love the way he was middling the ball in the second match. He is also paying around $4.50 to top England’s run-scorers with William Hill.

Adam Zampa leading wicket-taker for Australia

Zampa has bamboozled the home team a little. He’s no Shane Warne but the Victorian has really developed into a fine bowler and is particularly dangerous when the batsmen are coming at him. It will be interesting to see how he goes in the upcoming Indian Premier League.

England v Australia prediction 16/9/2020

Australia really did throw away what should have been a series-sealing win in the second match. Their middle-order collapse is a worrying trend but overall they have probably had the better of England, who are not quite the same formidable outfit without star all-rounder Ben Stokes. Whether Smith plays or not will be huge in the final outcome, as is who wins the toss, though we are happy to be on the team that bats second as the law of averages says a chasing team must win at some stage. Our final England v Australia prediction? England by 10 runs/6 wickets
