England v Pakistant 2nd test betting tips and winner prediction

Welcome to our England v Pakistan betting tips and prediction for the 2nd Test being played at the Rose Bowl, Hampshire, from Thursday.

England produced a miracle comeback in the opening Test, but have been rocked by the withdrawal of star all-rounder Ben Stokes from the remainder of the series due to personal reasons.

This means the England team will need to rejig with Zak Crawley likely to be recalled to the team after he was dropped to accommodate an extra bowler, with Stokes bowling minimal overs in recent games. Fast bowler Ollie Robinson will also be considered after being added to the squad during the first Test.

Pakistan are reeling after dominating England for four days in the opening Test, only to have the match slip away from them on the final day, as Jos Buttler and Ben Woakes produced a remarkable match-winning partnership.

Captain Azhar Ali has come under serious fire for his lack of imagination or dare when the match was on the line, with his team having several chances to land the killer blow on the final day.

Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Abbas bowled brilliantly in the opening Test, but Pakistan will consider making changes in a bid to keep the bowling attack fresh. There has been speculation Sohail Khan could be called up with the veteran paceman having a strong record in English conditions.

England v Pakistan tips – 2nd Test

Ollie Pope to top score in England’s 1st innings

We have been following England’s great batting hope Ollie Hope for a while and he undoubtedly has some class at Test level. With England’s top order exceptionally frail in recent times the 6-1 on offer looks to be good value, particularly if he gets a bump up the order in Stokes’s absence. Pope is paying 6/1 with William Hill.

Mohammad Abbas to take most wickets in England 1st innings

The 30-year-old paceman has extensive experience in English conditions, courtesy of playing for Leicestershire in the County Championships. Abbas only took three wickets in the first Test but was probably the most unlucky of the Pakistani bowlers and was exceptionally economic. With the pitch expected to favour the pacemen more at the Rose Bowl we like the 5-1 on him claiming the most wickets in England’s first knock.

Babar Azam to win man of match

Babar Azam was all class in Pakistan’s first innings in the first Test but failed when the heat was on in the second. Pakistan will be hoping, in the absence of Ben Stokes, their main man can fire them to a series-levelling win. Azam is paying $17 to win man of the match with the top cricket betting sites.

England v Pakistan prediction 13/8/2020

England are unbackable favourites to win this Test and we are not really sure why. Their formline is not impressive having produced a miracle in the 1st Test. Not to mention their 2-1 series victory against the West Indies, when the visiting team dominated long periods of the series. England’s batting looks even more vulnerable without Stokes. While there is every chance Pakistan will come out and perform terribly, we have been lured into the 5-1 odds on this occasion for them to win. Our final England v Pakistan prediction? Pakistan by six wickets.
