England v Pakistan tips and best bets for third Test

England v Pakistan betting tips and best bets; 3rd Test Preview, August 21 2020

England play their final Test match of the summer as they look to wrap up a series win against Pakistan. Leading 1-0 in the best-of-three series, Chris Silverwood’s men were hamstrung by the weather at the Rose Bowl, but they will be all too aware of the threat Pakistan pose going into the final Test.

Pakistan had England on the ropes for large periods of the first Test but England tend to find a way to win at home and they look to be the justified favourites in the betting to win the final match of the series at 5/6.

Despite their relative struggles in Test match cricket in recent years, there looks to have been a directive from the English Cricket Board to strengthen the Test team – following the success of the white ball focus that culminated in the ODI World Cup win last year.

Pakistan, meanwhile, have troubled England throughout the series, especially in the bowling department and they will be looking for their batsmen to pile on the runs here.

The weather traditionally plays a part in any English cricketing summer and the five days of persistent rain in Southampton last week was a huge disappointment. Both sides will be hoping the weather stays fair and they can battle out the series finale.

England team news and preview

Joe Root will once again be marshalling the troops in what looks to be a very important Test match for a few key players. Rory Burns has struggled for runs at the top of the order and pressure is building on him to get a score. Youngsters Dominic Sibley and Ollie Pope have settled well into the side in recent times whilst Zak Crawley looked in good form as he notched a half-century in the washed-out draw last week.

The absence of Ben Stokes for family reasons gives other players a chance to shine and in the bowling department England have an embarrassment of riches. James Anderson, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer and Sam Curran are all vying for places as well as Dom Bess who has become England’s front-line spinner.

Pakistan team news and preview

Having been in England for almost a month now, Pakistan look to be adapting to English conditions relatively well. Shan Masood struggled in the last Test but registered an excellent century in the first game of the series and he will be looking to be the backbone of the side at the top of the order. Babar Azam is one of the premier batsmen in world cricket and he will be hoping for some support from the likes of Mohammed Rizwan and captain Azhar Ali in the middle order.

Yasir Shah is one of the most dangerous spinners in the world whilst with Shaheen Afridi, Mohammed Abbas and Naseem Shah the Pakistan bowling attack is one of the most feared around and they will be confident of taking 20 wickets.

England v Pakistan tips – 3rd Test

Here are our best bets tips for the 3rd Test Match between England and Pakistan at the Rose Bowl:

Stuart Broad to be Man of the Match

Having been left out for the first Test of the summer against the West Indies, Stuart Broad looks back to his best and is bowling with real fire in the belly. He is the leading English wicket-taker in the series and should go well again here at the Rose Bowl.

Babar Azam to be Pakistan’s Top Batsman

Our second England v Pakistan betting tip is a favourite batsman of ours. Babar Azam has looked in imperious form throughout the series so far and is the only Pakistan batsmen to have looked relatively untroubled by the English bowling attack. He will be looking to put in a big score here and few would bet against him even at 7/4.

Joe Root to be England’s Top Batsman

Captain Joe Root has been a man on the very cusp of showing good form in recent weeks and he will be looking to put in a big performance here. The Yorkshireman continues to lead from the front for England and with no Ben Stokes, he could be the man to step up. He’s paying 5-1 to top-score in England’s first innings and with the pitch conditions expected to be tricky, he could top score with a relatively low total.

England v Pakistan prediction 21/8/2020

In the final match of the series anything can happen, but England are a good side and they should have too much firepower for Pakistan if the weather allows them. There is still some value in the betting for England to defeat Pakistan, but jump on quickly with it set to be an action packed contest. Our final England v Pakistan prediction? England to win the Test match @ 5/6.
