Geelong v Gold Coast betting tips for June 12

Welcome to our Geelong v Gold Coast betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 14 clash at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.

The Cats are priced at 1.26 to defeat the Suns (3.90) but this looms as a danger game for the wobbly Victorian club, against a team smarting after a disappointing loss to Brisbane.

Australian betting sites have set the line at 24.5 points, while the over/under total match points is at 179.5.

The Cats have dropped successive games — against Carlton and Adelaide — by a combined five points, with their latest a heartbreaking one-point loss to the Crows.

Chris Scott’s team will lose star defender Tom Stewart (concussion) after he suffered a hit late in the loss to the Crows, but Lawson Humphries and Mitch Edwards will return from their minor injury complaints.

Gold Coast have also lost successive matches, with these losses coming against North Melbourne and Brisbane, with their midfield soundly beaten in both clashes.

The Suns have lost Lachie Weller and Will Graham to hamstring injuries, while Wil Powell (shoulder) is also set for a stint on the sidelines.

Zeke Uwland, Sam Clohesy (who had 40 touches int he VFL) and Jamarra Ugle Hagen, who kicked four goals in his return from an ankle injury, are likely to be considered for call ups.

Geelong v Gold Coast betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Geelong v Gold Coast tips:

Ben King 3+ goals

King is going to enjoy not having Tom Stewart intercepting everything and looms as a key to causing an upset down at the Cattery. The Cats still have plenty of options to play on him, but their defence can be ragged when the spiritual leader is absent. King is paying 1.88 to kick 3+ goals.

Cats goal-kicker tips – Avoid Jezza

Geelong will be sweating on Jeremy Cameron’s ability to get through the season wth the nerve issue in his arm, with the star Cat well below his best in recent weeks. This means we will look a little deeper and consider Oliver Henry and Shannon Neale for multiple goals. If you want a roughie, wingman Ollie Dempsey will give you a good run, even if his finishing can be amiss at times. Dempsey is paying around the 13.00 quote to kick three goals.

Under 179.5 total points

We expect the Suns to come out breathing fire against Geelong, after their sub-par performance in the Q-Clash, and at the very least push the Cats all the way. Brownlow Medal winner Matt Rowell is due for a big game, while skipper Noah Anderson has also been below his best. Do the Suns go back to the future and start their star pair in the guts and send Petracca forward? Either way, we can see this being a tough and low-scoring fixture.

Geelong v Gold Coast prediction

Both teams are coming off successive losses and need a win to sure up their finals prospects. The Cats have issues with Cameron, who is still such a demanding presence despite being clearly hampered by his arm injury. The midfield battles between Cats’ aces Bailey Smith and Max Holmes and Suns guns Rowell, Anderson and Petracca loom as beauties. This clash will go down to the wire and a win either way would not surprise. Our final Geelong v Gold Coast prediction? Cats by a whisker at home.
