Gold Coast v GWS betting tips, prediction and odds; AFL Rd 9 Preview

AFL round 16 update and premiership betting

Expansion teams Gold Coast and GWS will clash on Sunday afternoon, in what is looming as an important clash for both clubs. Our AFL guru has done the form and presented his Gold Coast v GWS betting tips & prediction.

The Suns have shown great improvement this year to sit 4-4 after eight matches and they have unearthed some exciting talent, including Rising Star favourite Izak Rankine and talented tall Ben King.

Gold Coast are coming off a five-point loss to the Bulldogs, a game they might very well have won, after squandering opportunities and having as many shots as their opposition.

The Giants recorded their best victory of the season, a hard-fought 12-point win over Richmond, which probably did not receive as much credit as it should have given the Tigers thrashed the Bulldogs on Wednesday night.

GWS have been installed $1.50 favourites to win the clash, with the Gold Coast priced at $2.60. The line has been set at 11.5 by popular betting sites.

The teams for this clash are due to be released on Saturday, but the Giants are set to be boosted by captain Callan Ward and speedy defender Zac Williams, who has been missing since the round-four loss to Collingwood. The Giants also announced on Thursday that coach Leon Cameron would be at the helm for at least another two years.

Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew has forecast that they would make “maybe one or two” changes to the team that lost to the Bulldogs, with no.11 draft pick Sam Flanders some chance of making his debut.

Gold Coast Suns v GWS Giants tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds for some value and found several Suns v Giants tips for Sunday’s game.

Jeremy Cameron to score 3+ goals

Jeremy Cameron has kicked 13 goals from eight games in 2020, which is below his usual output, with the supremely talented forward not looking his aggressive self. Cameron had 12 possessions but failed to hit the scoreboard against the Tigers, but we are tipping he will find the going a little easier against the younger Suns backline. GWS to lead at every break and win

The Giants are a few years ahead of the Suns in their development, even though both entered the AFL at a similar time. Despite both teams sitting on 4-4 after eight rounds, we think the Giants are ready to begin staking their premiership claim and will lead this one from start to finish. PlayUp is offering $2.45 for this bet which we think is a good thing.

Gold Coast v GWS prediction 2/8/2020

We are extremely confident the Giants will get the job done here, with both teams enjoying over a week break before the start of this one. The Suns have not beaten the Giants since 2014 when Gary Ablett had 30 possessions and kicked three goals. While their list is better balanced these days, they are a long way off the Giants who we think will be around at the pointy end of the season. Back the Giants to cover the -11.5 line with confidence. Our final Gold Coast v GWS prediction? Giants by 26 points.
