Wallabies v Les Bleus 2nd Rugby Test betting preview, tips 2021

Wallabies v France second TestTest

Australia and France clash in the second Test of a three-Test series at AAMI Park on Melbourne on Tuesday night, July 13.

After the thrilling finale to the opening Test won 23-21 by the Wallabies, we have a much better idea of what to expect, particularly from the visiting French.

They overcame the absence of a host of stars who could not complete the quarantine period in time to play, and also the difficulty of being isolated for two weeks leading up to the match.

But some believe that was Les Bleus’ best chance of their first win against the Wallabies in Australia since 1990, with the Wallabies rusty early and never really finding a groove after a long time between matches.

With the third and final Test in Brisbane looming large just four days away, Wallabies coach Dave Rennie has made just one change, in the belief they can deliver a knockout blow and win the series 2-0 before returning to Queensland.

Dynamic prop Taniela Tupou has been added to the starting side, with Allan Alaalatoa dropping to the bench.

“We’ve had a good few days training and we’re confident we’ll be sharper this time,” Rennie said.

France have made five changes from the first Test, with prop Wilfrid Hounkpatin and lock Pierre-Henri Azagoh winning their first caps. Cameron Woki and Ibrahim Diallo also come into the starting back row along with Bordeaux-Begles lock Cyril Cazeaux.

Betting tips for Australia v France rugby 2nd Test

Our rugby betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Wallabies-Les Bleus tips:

Damian Penaud to score a try at $2.45

We punted on the rising star winger Penaud to score a try in the opening Test, but it was the opposite winger Gabin Villiere who stole the show with a double. We will stick solid with the man from Clermont who is the son of former French international Alain.

Wallabies -9.5/match total under 47.5 points

We will pin faith in the Wallabies being ready to fire from the start this time. With cold and overcast conditions forecast for Melbourne we will also bet that this match will not be too expansive; the Wallabies played with little flair in the back line in the opening Test and they will probably again have to grind out points.

Australia v France rugby prediction 13/7/2021

The Wallabies team is in a rebuilding phase under Rennie but it’s hard to overlook France’s poor record overall in Australia. They are also a rebuilding side and will be formidable by the time they host the Rugby World Cup. But this is very much a learning tour for them. The Australians should be too strong in front of their home fans. Our final Australia v France prediction: Wallabies to win by 14 points.
