Greyville race tips, form and preview for Friday, September 11
Our Hollywoodbets Greyville tips, form and preview focus on a competitive eight-race card on the Polytrack, where Navajo Dancer looks overdue for another victory and punters may need to cast the net wide in the exotics.
Navajo Dancer has been threatening to land his next win for some time and gets another opportunity in Race 3. His recent efforts have all been competitive and, importantly, his best form has come on the Polytrack. This is an open contest, but he looks capable of finally getting his head back in front. Kaapse Klopse is an obvious danger after a smart third on the turf last time and has plenty in his favour from an excellent draw, while Master Silvano is 1.5kg better off with Victor Rail after being narrowly beaten by that rival.

The opening two races are hardly straightforward. Mist In Maryland was touched off when making her Polytrack debut and again has the benefit of a favourable draw in Race 1, giving her a chance to turn the tables on Forthegoodtimes after finishing behind that rival when they previously met on turf. Big Dipper is one of the more interesting runners in Race 2 after catching the eye on debut, when he made late progress from the worst of the draw in soft going. Another wide gate presents a challenge, but he looks open to plenty of improvement.
Queen of Denmark takes on the males in Race 4 but has been knocking on the door and is well suited to the Polytrack, while Crimson Flame could build on a promising debut in the fifth. Dancing On A. Cloud is given the nod in a difficult Race 6 after winning his latest Polytrack start and now gets some assistance from a claiming apprentice. Day Two’s consistency makes him appealing in another competitive handicap in Race 7, before Twocantango gets his chance in the finale after two encouraging performances since returning from a lengthy absence.

Race 1
Hollywoodbets Greyville Welcomes You Maiden Plate (F & M)
MIST IN MARYLAND (1) was touched off when making her Polytrack debut and has the benefit of the best draw again. With that experience under her belt, she can go one better. FORTHEGOODTIMES (7) finished ahead of MIST IN MARYLAND when they previously met on the turf, having started a hot favourite that day, and must be respected again. However, MIST IN MARYLAND now has Polytrack experience and the better draw. PACIFIC MOOD (5) returns from a break and makes her Polytrack debut after contesting feature company at her latest start. She can do better in these surroundings. CARTEL QUEEN (2) has produced her best recent form on the Polytrack and has a favourable draw, although she does have to negotiate the extra furlong.

Race 2
Lucky Fish Diamond Rise Open Maiden (Polytrack)
BIG DIPPER (10) caught the eye on debut when running on nicely from the worst of the draw in soft going. He again has to overcome a wide gate, but looks progressive and should have plenty more to offer with the benefit of that first experience. RUN GEORGE RUN (5) has shown little on the turf, but his one encouraging performance came over this course and distance behind a subsequent winner. A return to the Polytrack could bring him right into contention. DEE DAY (4) has been battling for some time but showed improvement at his latest outing and has a money chance if building on that performance. KA CHOW (6) was not beaten far under a light weight last time and carries a similar burden here, giving him a chance of getting into the places.

Race 3

NAVAJO DANCER (3) is overdue for another victory after a string of close-up performances and his best form has come on the Polytrack. In a wide-open contest, he gets another good opportunity to return to the winner’s enclosure. KAAPSE KLOPSE (2) goes particularly well on this surface and produced a smart third on the turf last time. From an excellent draw he has plenty in his favour and rates a major danger. MASTER SILVANO (5) has consistent Polytrack form and was a narrowly beaten favourite behind VICTOR RAIL (6) when they last met. He is now 1.5kg better off at the weights and should be right in the finish again, although VICTOR RAIL cannot be ignored in another competitive affair.

Race 4

QUEEN OF DENMARK (5) takes on male opposition but has been close-up in each of her last two starts and is well suited to the Polytrack. She has a handy weight and does not appear to face the strongest opposition, giving her a good winning chance. WISDOM SEEKER (4) made a fair debut in what appeared a strong maiden field. He has only had the one outing and is entitled to make significant improvement with that experience behind him. GRAND TOUR (6) also shaped encouragingly on debut at long odds and should come on from the effort. He represents a stable in very good form and could make the required improvement. ALL ABOUT ME (3) attracted some market support at big odds last time and remains lightly raced. With little weight to carry, he is one to keep a close eye on.

Race 5
Gallop TV Open Maiden
CRIMSON FLAME (6) attracted market support on debut and only just failed to get the job done. It may not have been the strongest maiden field, but the experience should have brought him on and he looks capable of improving enough to win this. TARANAKI NOMAD (7) is better off at the weights with SCOTT’S BAR (1) and the additional furlong could particularly suit the New Zealand-bred runner. Hollywood Racing’s retained riders have switched mounts, with Sean Veale aboard TARANAKI NOMAD, and he should be competitive in an open maiden. SCOTT’S BAR remains firmly in calculations on exposed form and cannot be left out. SUTTER’S MILL (4) has his first start for Kom Naidoo and joins a stable in good form. Improvement on his Highveld performances would bring him into the picture.

DANCING ON A CLOUD (4) won his latest race on the Polytrack and looks capable of solving a difficult handicap. He has a claiming apprentice aboard this time and should again be competitive off his current mark. I AM CLASSY (1) has improved since cheekpieces were fitted and the inside draw could prove particularly important over this longer trip. Veteran NATIONAL DREAM (8) drops in class and has a top rider aboard, making him another with strong claims in an open race. PRINCESS PALACE (6) attracted some betting support last time and has subsequently dropped three pounds in the handicap. She is capable of getting involved if reproducing her better form.

Race 7
Lucky Fish Power Pick C Stakes
DAY TWO (10) is lightly raced and has hardly put a foot wrong, seldom finishing out of the money. He is well suited to this distance and, despite the wide draw, should again be highly competitive. NO PRESSURE (3) won well over this course and distance last time and looks capable of overcoming the handicapper’s five-point increase in the ratings. RED CARDINAL (7) finished second behind NO PRESSURE in that race and has around two lengths to make up, but is now 1.5kg better off at the weights and should make another race of it. GARDENER’S PRIDE (4) is likely to be prominent from the outset and, with a handy weight, could prove difficult to peg back if allowed to dictate proceedings.

Race 8
Hollywoodbets Bright Future Class 5
TWOCANTANGO (10) appears to be coming to hand nicely and has finished close-up in both starts since returning from a lengthy absence. He should enjoy this distance and looks capable of registering his first Polytrack victory. HEAVEN’S WILL (6) is gradually dropping in the handicap and now steps up to what should be a more suitable trip. With a handy weight, he could prove the main danger. GREEN MILE (5) is a Polytrack specialist who is seldom far away and won well at his latest outing. He received only a three-pound increase in the handicap for that success and is capable of following up. THE WOLF (7) continues to hold his form and, although facing stronger opposition this time, should again be involved in the finish.
