GWS v Carlton betting tips and prediction
Welcome to our GWS v Carlton betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 15 clash on Saturday.
The Giants are 1.35 favourites to topple the resurgent Blues (3.20), who have rattled off four successive wins under interim coach Josh Fraser.
The Giants/Blues line has been set at 21.5 points, while the over/under total points mark is at 182.5 with Australian betting sites.
GWS has won three of their last four matches but were eight-point losers to St Kilda in Melbourne on Sunday. They will be boosted by former captain Stephen Coniglio after overcoming a hamstring, with Toby McMullin the player to make way.
Carlton has recalled tough utility Matthew Cottrell to their line-up, with Flynn Young omitted. The Blues have opted to give Ollie Hollands a run in the VFL before a senior recall, while Jacob Weitering (calf) will require at least one more week off.
GWS v Carlton betting tips
WGL’s AFL betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value GWS v Carlton tips:
Patrick Cripps 25+ possessions
The Carlton captain has roared back to life in the last month under Josh Fraser and fresh off a break he looms as a big player in this game. He’s also paying 1.63 to reach 25+ possessions.
Callum Brown 3+ goals
Brown has a habit of performing strongly at Engie Stadium and has the ability to kick multiple goals. He’s paying 8.50 for 3+ or 3.10 for 2+. Keep an eye on the weather and roll with less goals if it’s looking inclement.
Sam Walsh and Clayton Oliver SGM tip
Get the two star midfielders into a multi with both collecting 30+ possessions and thank me later. Both are in great form and big reasons why their teams are a chance of playing finals. Both have queries over their kicking, which means a tag is unlikely. This is paying around 4.50 if it hits.
Will Hayward 2+ goals
The Blues would be stoked with the return of Will Hayward since crossing from Sydney. He’s playing higher up the ground under Fraser, but is kicking more goals. We like him for 2+ here, which is paying around 2.40. If you’re feeling adventurous include him for 20 possessions as well.
GWS v Carlton winner prediction
Who would have thought a GWS v Carlton match would be so important a month ago. But with both teams just sitting outside the top 10, it looms as a crucial battle in a charge to the finals. The teams look evenly matched on paper, and it’s really only the home ground advantage that has leaning towards the Giants. Another variable to consider is the Blues are coming off the bye, which could result in a slow start. The tri-bet market, where either team wins by 1-24 points, is a live option in this clash. Our final GWS v Carlton prediction? GWS by 12 points.
