Macau casino revenue falls 10% in October despite Golden Week
Casino gross gaming revenue in Macau fell 10% year-on-year in October, extending the world’s largest casino market’s losing streak to five consecutive months.
Figures released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau on November 1 show casinos generated MOP21.68 billion (US$2.68 billion), compared with MOP24.09 billion in October 2025.
The decline came despite China’s National Day Golden Week holiday, traditionally one of Macau’s busiest periods for casino tourism.
However, October revenue was approximately 20% higher than September’s MOP18.06 billion, providing some recovery from the previous month’s weaker performance.
For the first 10 months of 2026, Macau’s casinos generated MOP208.80 billion, representing growth of just 1.6% compared with the corresponding period last year.
That compares with cumulative growth of 3.2% at the end of September, highlighting the continued slowdown.
The Macau government has maintained its full-year gross gaming revenue forecast of MOP236 billion.
Casinos must generate another MOP27.2 billion during November and December to reach that target.
The figures will increase scrutiny of Macau’s six licensed casino concessionaires as they approach the final reporting period of 2026.
