NRL Round 3 odds and Premiership betting update

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

THE Melbourne Storm have been installed a $5 chance to win the 2020 NRL Premiership, with the top-flight rugby league competition set to resume on May 28.

The NRL was forced to delay its season after just two rounds after most major sports were forced to delay or cancel matches because of the COVID-19 crisis gripping the world.

But after much discussion the NRL is set to resume next Thursday night with a blockbuster encounter between the fifth-placed Brisbane Broncos and the first-placed Parramatta Eels behind closed doors.

Online betting sites have also released a fresh NRL Premiership market, with the Storm the bookies elect, ahead of the Sydney Roosters ($6), Canberra Raiders ($6.50), Eels ($7.50) and the Broncos and Sea Eagles ($11).

The NRL is hopeful that being one of the first major sports to return to competition, will give them unprecedented coverage across the globe.

“After a period of uncertainty and unprecedented co-operation by a wide range of stakeholders, we are proud and excited to announce rounds 3 and 4 of the Telstra NRL Premiership,” acting NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said.

“These rounds provide our fans and partners with on-field rivalry and blockbuster entertainment. Combined with the proposed rule changes, the 2020 season will be faster and more unpredictable than ever before.”

The Broncos v Eels clash will be the first time the teams have met since last year’s finals series, when the Eels whipped the in-fighting Brisbane team 58-0.

Friday night football returns with rugby league’s oldest rivalry between the Sydney Roosters and the South Sydney Rabbitohs, with the Roosters the bookies’ favourites to notch up their first win of 2020.

Super Saturday will be headlined by the Melbourne Storm v Canberra Raiders match, the first time the two sides have met since the Raiders ended the Storm’s 2019 Premiership quest.

Sunday rugby league will begin with the unbeaten Penrith Panthers and Newcastle Knights aiming for a hat-trick of wins.

While the NRL has only released the fixture for rounds 3 and 4, the full schedule is expected to be released in the coming days.
