NRL round 7 odds update and fixture
NRL round seven kicks off on Thursday night with an enticing clash at Campbelltown Stadium between two teams we think will play a strong hand in this season’s finals: Penrith and South Sydney.
NRL betting sites have made the Panthers hot favourites at around $1.76 but we like the way the Bunnies have been going in recent weeks with Latrell Mitchell finding his feet at fullback and Cody Walker back in the team.
The Saturday night clash between Canberra Raiders and Parramatta Eels looms as the match of the round, though there are several fascinating subplots at play as the NRL rolls on after the COVID-19 shutdown.
The Friday early match between Melbourne Storm and the NZ Warriors is in some danger of being moved to NSW because of the spate of COVID-19 cases in Melbourne.
Meanwhile, the Warriors will be playing under interim coach Todd Payten after Kiwi legend Stephen Kearney was sacked at the weekend. You must always beware of teams the week after their coach is sacked, even when a win seems unlikely.
Elsewhere, crowds of up to 10,000 will be allowed at matches in Queensland.
And Manly are counting the cost of their epic win against a strong Canberra side on Sunday, with superstar Tom Trbojevic to miss at least six weeks with a hamstring tear.
NRL 2020 premiership betting update
In the latest 2020 NRL premiership market from Unibet, the Roosters have shorted up considerably after their powerful display against the Eels, with all the other major contenders drifting in betting.
Penrith, Newcastle and South Sydney have all been inward movers at longer odds, and the winner of the Panthers-Rabbitohs clash on Thursday is likely to shorten up even further.
