NRL Sunday: Roosters v Warriors betting tips, prediction & odds, round 4, 2021

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Read on for our Sydney Roosters v New Zealand Warriors match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday, April 4.

How a week is a long time in football, and rugby league, too. Before last round’s jarring loss to Souths, the Roosters were flying high at the top of premiership betting and their attack looked lethal.

But a couple of injuries and that defeat later, and not many believe they have any chance in 2021 as they must usher in a new era of playmakers ahead of time.

Untried youngster Sam Walker is called upon to steer the Tricolours around the park and while he is a prodigious talent, he is just 18 and was not expected to be in the top grade just yet.

The Warriors are a team that has traditionally troubled the Roosters, even though the Sydney team has won the past three match-ups. Overall, the Warriors are one of the few teams with a winning head to head record against the Roosters.

In their only match-up in 2020, the Roosters won 18-10 on the Central Coast. Both teams boast a 2-1 win-loss record to start the season.

Roosters v Warriors team news for round 4

There are huge changes for the Roosters, who of course lost star playmaker Luke Cleary for the season after he ruptured his ACL in the disastrous loss to Souths last weekend.

Not only did they lose Cleary, but five-eighth Lachlan Lam also suffered a knee injury and will miss a month, while prop Lindsay Collins is also out with ankle injury.

Highly touted youngster Sam Walker gets his chance in place of Keary while Drew Hutchison comes in for Lam.

The Roosters had some good news with hard-hitting lock Victor Radley ready to play after recovering from knee and shoulder injuries. Matt Ikuvalu and Nat Butcher have been added to the bench,

Warriors centre Peta Hiku (knee) is expected to miss four matches, with former Bulldogs flyer Marcelo Montoya playing his first match for the club in his centre spot.

Roosters v Warriors free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Roosters-Warriors betting tips for Sunday night’s game.

New Zealand Warriors +6.5/match total over 42.5

We feel the Warriors might have been sold slightly short this season; they have been good in all of their matches. We will back them to go try for try with the new-look Roosters.

Kodi Nikorima to score a try at $5.10

The speedy half has been a stand-out player early in the season for the Warriors. Nikorima already has two tries on the board in the opening three games and has become a more than useful support player as well as pulling the strings for his team. He will be heavily involved.

Sydney Roosters v NZ Warriors prediction 4-4-2021

This is a fascinating contest no matter which team you want to win. The Warriors’ first three games have all featured plenty of highlights and they have gained great respect for the manner in which they have stuck to their guns in difficult circumstances. Meanwhile, we will see generation next in action for the Roosters, though they also have an incredibly experienced and talented line of backs to play outside their halves. We are tipping a surprise in this one. Our Roosters v Warriors prediction: Warriors in another thriller by 2 points.
