Ontario’s regulated online gambling market generated CA$416.3 million in revenue during September 2026, an increase of 26.2% year-on-year, as active player accounts reached a record 1.41 million.

Figures released by iGaming Ontario show total cash wagers reached CA$9.71 billion, up 13.6% from September 2025 but largely unchanged from August.

Revenue increased 5% month-on-month, making September the market’s strongest month of 2026 and its second-highest since regulation began in April 2022.

Online casino remained the dominant sector, generating a record CA$340.8 million in revenue from CA$8.50 billion in wagers.

Casino games accounted for 88% of total wagering and 82% of operator revenue, with casino revenue increasing 22.7% compared with September 2025.

Sports betting recorded particularly strong growth, with revenue climbing 47.3% year-on-year to CA$69.1 million.

However, sports wagering increased by just 1.2% over the same period, reaching CA$1.07 billion.

Compared with August, sports betting revenue and wagering both increased approximately 27%.

Peer-to-peer poker generated CA$6.4 million in revenue from CA$130 million in wagers. Poker revenue increased 25.5% year-on-year, despite wagering falling approximately 10%.

Active player accounts increased 20.1% from September 2025 and 16.8% from August, reaching 1.413 million.

However, average revenue per active account declined 10% month-on-month to CA$295, suggesting the increase in overall revenue was accompanied by a larger number of active accounts rather than higher average spending per account.

The figures represent accounts rather than unique individuals, as customers can maintain accounts with multiple licensed Ontario gambling operators.

Ontario’s regulated market generated approximately CA$1.23 billion in revenue during the July-to-September quarter, an increase of around 25.7% year-on-year.

At the province’s 20% iGaming tax rate, September’s operator revenue represents approximately CA$83 million in potential provincial tax revenue.

The figures exclude Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s online gambling operations and pari-mutuel horse racing wagering.
