Ontario’s gambling market posts record handle in March
Ontario’s regulated iGaming market continued its strong upward trajectory in March, posting a new record handle of $9.59 billion as the province’s online gambling sector enters its fourth year of operation.
The latest figures underline the scale of the market, with operator revenue reaching $387 million for the month, up 13% from February and 30% year-on-year. The total figure trumps January, 2026, which recorded a total handle of 9.52billion.
Since launching in April 2022, Ontario has developed into one of North America’s most competitive regulated markets, with major brands such as BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars Sportsbook among the leading CAD gambling sites driving activity.
Online casino products continue to dominate, accounting for 82% of total revenue. iCasino generated $318.5 million in March, with total handle up nearly 26% year-on-year. Online slots remain the core product across the market, supported by strong engagement in live dealer games such as blackjack and roulette, which have become a key driver of sustained growth.
Sports betting delivered a mixed performance, with the total handle rising back above $1 billion at $1.08 billion, but still fell 9% compared to March 2025, marking its weakest monthly showing since September.
Online poker recorded its strongest month on record, with $183 million in handle and $6.9 million in revenue. While still accounting for less than 2% of total market share, the growth suggests renewed player interest, particularly as liquidity improves through operator pooling and tournament formats.
Active accounts reached 1.235 million, up 17% year-on-year, as Ontario’s regulated market continues to expand.
