This is a “home” match for the Scorchers and they head into it as the only team without a win in the BBL season after Brisbane Heat opened their account against Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday night.

The Scorchers have struggled, especially with their top-order batting, in their three matches so far, but the good news is they finally get English stars opener Jason Roy and all-rounder Liam Livingstone after their quarantine periods.

Roy, in particular, gives the Perth team a much more powerful look at the top of the order. He inhabits the crease like an angry lion at best of times, so he will be ready to explode after a couple of weeks under lock and key.

Of course, the Strikers are likely to be without superstar all-rounder Rashid Khan thanks a possible hamstring issue, but they do regain captain Alex Carey and it is the pace bowlers who have been outstanding for them this season rather than Rashid.

Also, it is placing a lot of store in Roy and Livingstone, who have not been able to train properly in the nets until recent days. Roy is hit and miss at the best of times; Scorchers fans will be hoping he can come out firing.
