South Africa v England 2nd T20 tips, predictions & odds

South Africa host England in the second T20 International of a three-match series at Kingsmead, Durban, on Friday, February 14.

If it’s anything like the first match, won by South Africa by one run, it will be compelling viewing.

Lungi Ngidi bowled a tremendous last over to deny England, after opener Jason Roy had put them in a match-winning position by blasting 70.

Bookmakers have stuck with England as firm favourites to win the match, no doubt based on their powerful batting line-up, while England’s spinner have also proved difficult to score against of late, in the first T20 and the drawn ODI series.

The travelling cricket circus moves to Kingsmead at Durban. There have been no T20 Internationals at the ground since 2016, but it tends to suit seam bowlers who can swing it around a little.

England captain Eoin Morgan bemoaned his team’s lack of killer instinct after they could not close out the first match, and they will have to rebound quickly or risk finishing a tour that hit such a high with victory in the Test series on a disappointing note.

“One of the big things in our change room is that we learn quite quickly from each other,” Morgan told Sky Sports.

“We’re very open and there’s no massive egos around. It’s OK for guys to say, ‘I struggled today, what did you look to do, and how were you effective? Teach me.'”

South Africa v England 2nd Twenty20 betting tips

As with all our cricket previews we have come up with a couple of tips for this match. We found success in the opening match with Jason Roy topping the scoring charts. You can read more about betting on cricket in our extensive guides.

Jason Roy man of the match at $9

The hard-hitting opener did the right thing by the WGL team in the opening T20 at East London and we will back him to go one better and play a match-winning role as England level the series. Roy has his eye in now after the ODIs and first T20 and is a player who can string a few good scores together. We hope he can.

South Africa most sixes at $2.50

We are happy to be on the Proteas simply because of the large disparity in the market. While England have an abundance of power hitters, South Africa are also well stock for power. The likes of de Kock and Miller can clear the ropes without too many problems.

South Africa v England predictions – 2nd T20, Feb 14, 2020

We don’t see this as an exceptionally high-scoring game given the ball can dart around in Durban. The weather forecast is clear, but be sure to check in again closer to the match. We predict England to win this match comfortably to level the series. They really should have won the first match, but can be backed with confidence at the $1.60-odd available for an England win. Good punting.
