T20 Women’s World Cup Final: Australia v India predictions, best bets

Australia v Sri Lanka betting tips, predictions, best bets and odds update, T20 World Cup Women

So in the end it’s India v Australia in the final of the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
This is arguably the final that the majority of fans wanted to see. Now Australia are in the final on home turf the record crowd for any women’s stand-alone sporting event of 90,085 could well fall, with 60,000 ticket pre-sold.
This is the WGL’s Australia v India betting tips and odds update for the T20 World Cup Women’s final at the MCG on Sunday, March 8.
The teams of course already met during the group stages, with India coming out on top, and it’s a small miracle these teams find themselves facing off in the final.
In the semi-finals in Sydney, India’s match against England was washed out, meaning the Indians advanced courtesy of being the higher-ranked team after the group stage.
A little later in the evening the weather cleared long enough at the same venue for Australia to narrowly defeat the desperately unlucky South Africa team.
Australia, though, have been at the top of the women’s game for many years and their big players stepped up in the key moments.
So to the final of what has been a fantastic tournament (for the fans and also the followers of the WGL’s tipsters!)
Bookmakers hade made Australia favourites at around the $1.50 and, even with superstar all-rounder Ellyse Perry out of the tournament with a hamstring strain, that is a fair assessment. The home teams has a stack of quality, experience players which should hold them in good stead in what will be a cauldron of noise and excitement on Sunday evening.
India’s greatest hopes rest with rising star batter Shafali Verma, who has been a cut above in terms of power hitting at this event, and Smriti Mandhana, another ranked among the elite batters in women’s cricket.
And they will look for a repeat performance from spinner Poonam Yadav, who bamboozled the Australian batters in their earlier clash in this tournament.
In 19 previous T20 International meetings between the teams, Australia have won 13 and India six. But India have won three of the past five clashes.

Australia v India betting tips

Beth Mooney top run-scorer for Australia at $4

Mooney has scored 181 runs already in this tournament at a health average of 45.2 and she has been the rock around which most of Australia’s innings have been built. Her opening partner Alyssa Healy tends to start more aggressively but that does not always come off and we are happy to stick with Mooney to go the distance.

India to score more runs in the opening six overs at $2

Young opener Shafali Verma has been a sensation with 161 runs at the extraordinary strike rate of 161, and has hit more sixes than any other player with nine for the tournament, along with 18 fours. The 16-year-old is destined to be a star of the game for many years to come and she can get her team off to a flyer again. Fearless.

Australia v India predictions – 8/3/2020

This should be one of the great women’s cricket clashes of all time with such a massive crowd expected and India offering a real challenge to Australia’s crown at the top of the game. A match packed with stars young and old, and we want it to go right down to the wire. We expect Australia’s legends of the game such as captain Meg Lanning and pace star Megan Schutt to step up when the game is to be won. So it’s Australia in a close game to thrill the home fans. Good punting.
