Western Bulldogs v Adelaide betting tips and winner prediction
Welcome to our Western Bulldogs v Adelaide betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 13 clash at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (1.73) have been installed a warm favourite at Australian betting sites to defeat the Crows (2.12), with both teams coming off season-defining victories.
The Dogs defeated Hawthorn by six points last Friday night, with an exceptionally even performance proving too much for the inaccurate Hawks.
The Bulldogs have confirmed Luke Kennedy will make his debut after a 17 disposal and 16 tackle performance in the VFL, but they will lose small forward Lachie McNeil to concussion.
Adelaide recorded an important one-point victory over Geelong last Thursday, with their skipper Jordan Dawson almost single-handedly picking them up and dragging them home, with 22 possessions and three goals.
The Crows will lose veteran forward Taylor Walker after he was suspended for pushing, or careless conduct. Yep you read that right. But they have a ready-made replacement with Riley Thilthorpe to return from his own suspension.
The Crows have also included Luke Pedlar and Nick Murray, but have given star man Izak Rankine another week off with his calf complaint. Jordan Butts (calf) and Brisbane Lions recruit Callum Ah Chee (hamstring) are confirmed outs.
The Bulldogs-Crows line has been set at a paltry 4.5 points, while the total points over/under is at 180.5 with Australian betting sites.
Western Bulldogs v Adelaide betting tips
Our AFL betting guru has assessed the markets and found some value Bulldogs v Crows tips:
Under 180.5 points
Both teams have not been scoring as frequently as they would like, scoring 75 and 77 points respectively last week, in winning matches. While we expect the scores to be higher at Marvel Stadium this week, the 180.5 mark looks a little high. Jump on early, because we can see this coming in by 10 points closer to the first bounce.
Marcus Bontempelli 2+ goals
Bontempelli, who is among the favourites to win the Brownlow Medal, has been in outstanding goal kicking form this year. His team is also in better shape, allowing him to play up front at times, given Ed Richards and Ryley Sanders have lifted, since the return of ruckman Tim English. He’s paying 2.05 to kick 2+ goals. We should have struck gold with Adam Treloar and our pick of 2+ goals last week, but he missed an absolute sitter from about 10m out, which would have given him a second goal. He’s worth considering again, but geez his finishing is bad.
Riley Thilthorpe 3+ goals
The towering Crow is returning from suspension and will enjoy the marking conditions under the roof. The week off should have helped his lingering injury issues, and he’s offering some value at 2.80 to kick 3+ goals with Neds Australia.
Western Bulldogs v Adelaide prediction
This clash really is a flip of a coin from a punting perspective, and you can mount a strong case for either team to win. It could come down to selection in this one, with Rankine’s fitness even more important given the injury to Ah Chee, who was awesome against the Cats. The midfields look even, both teams have weapons up front, while their backlines both have queries, especially given the Crows injuries. We will run with 1-24 point tri-bet in our multi for this clash, meaning either team can win. Our final Bulldogs v Crows prediction? Dogs by eight points.
