Western Bulldogs v West Coast betting tips, prediction and odds; AFL rd 16 preview

Welcome to our Western Bulldogs v West Coast betting tips, prediction & odds analysis ahead of their AFL round 2 clash at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

The Bulldogs have been priced at $1.50 to defeat the Eagles ($2.60), with this heavy favouritism coming on the back of their home ground advantage and a depleted Eagles midfield. The $1.90 line has been set at 12.5 points.

Western Bulldogs’ season got off to a perfect start last week against Collingwood, but they will be hopeful of further improvement, with elements of their game still patchy. However, boom recruit Adam Treloar and their star studded midfield shone.

West Coast had to work hard for their opening-round victory over Gold Coast, but they would be buoyed by the form of young forward Oscar Allen, who was a clear standout. They would also be pleased with the contribution of Tim Kelly, who was below par in his opening season at the Eagles.

The Bulldogs almost have a full list to choose from for this game, although Toby McLean (knee) and Ed Richards (ankle) could miss the majority of the season. Speedster Jason Johannnisen may earn a call-up, despite being left out of their win over the Magpies.

West Coast has plenty of talent to return with the likes of Elliott Yeo and Luke Shuey out through injuries, while a late season return for Willie Rioli would also prove a boost. Shuey could be ready for the Eagles’ round 3 game.

Bulldogs v West Coast tips 28/3

Our AFL betting expert has taken a deep dive into the Bulldogs v West Coast betting and found some value tips for our readers.

Josh Kennedy to kick 3+ goals

Oscar Allen might have stolen the headlines in the opening week for the Eagles, but we’re going to go with their more experienced forward Josh Kennedy in this one. The Eagles, when they are playing well, have a multi-pronged forward line and Kennedy is a big part of that. The Coleman Medal winner is paying $2.40 to kick 3+ goals

Adam Treloar to get over 25 touches

Treloar was OK without being his usual prolific self against Collingwood and it will be interesting to see whether it was role related or he was just quiet. If it was just a case of a quiet game, you are unlikley to see the $2.10 on offer for Treloar to gather 25+ touches again.

Western Bulldogs v West Coast Eagles Prediction

We are really bullish on the Western Bulldogs’ prospects this season, with their key position stocks finally beginning to take shape. The Eagles are a bit of a mystery team, with an ageing list, but plenty of talent. They appear destined to play finals, but their best football may be some months away. The Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium are as tough as it gets right now and they should have a bit too much depth through the midfield in this one. Our final Western Bulldogs v West Coast prediction? Bulldogs by 17 points.
