Wynn confirms September 2027 opening date for UAE casino
Wynn Resorts has confirmed the United Arab Emirates’ first casino resort will officially open in September 2027, marking a major milestone for one of the gambling industry’s most anticipated developments.
The Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated resort, under construction in Ras Al Khaimah, is expected to become the first commercial casino operating in the UAE after Wynn secured the country’s inaugural gaming licence.
When the doors open, visitors can expect a Las Vegas-style integrated resort featuring more than 1,500 hotel rooms, an expansive casino floor, luxury retail, dozens of restaurants and bars, entertainment venues, meeting and convention facilities, a marina, spa and beachfront attractions.
Wynn, who previously described the development as the most significant integrated resort opening in more than a decade, gave the update alongside their second-quarter earnings report, where the company also revealed the project’s estimated construction cost has increased by US$600 million, lifting the total investment from US$5.1 billion to approximately US$5.7 billion.
Despite the higher price tag, Wynn CEO Craig Billings said construction continues to progress rapidly and the company remains confident in both the project and the UAE gambling market.
“What we are building in the region is one of a kind,” Billings said. “We continue to believe this will be the most exciting integrated resort opening globally in over a decade.”
Billings also addressed concerns over geopolitical instability in the Middle East following recent conflict involving Israel, Iran and the United States, saying Wynn had always factored regional risk into the investment.
“This is a country that absorbs pressure and keeps functioning rather than one that gets knocked off course by it,” he said.
He added that flight capacity, supply chains and day-to-day life in the UAE had remained largely unaffected, allowing construction to continue on schedule toward the September 2027 opening.
