Twenty Nine can is played in two teams, with the winning team the one that has bid and successfully completed their tricks. The team that ultimately gets the most points wins. This game is similar to 500 and Euchre from other cultures.
Call Bridge / Call Break
Call Bridge (Bangladesh’s go-to trick-taking card game) is played by four with a 52-card deck. Each player gets 13 cards; spades are permanent trumps. After seeing their hands, players make a “call”—the number of tricks they expect to win. Forehand leads; you must follow suit if able, otherwise you may play any card (including a trump).
The highest card of the led suit wins unless a trump is played; then the highest trump wins. Meet or beat your call to score +call (common variants add 0.1 per over-trick); fail and you lose that amount. Games run 5–8 deals with dealer rotating clockwise.
Housie / Tambola (90-ball bingo)
A staple of club socials, fairs, and family events; typically played for token prizes. (You’ll even find housie sets sold by Bangladeshi retailers.)
House or Bingo is played all around the world, and it is very popular in Bangladesh. Essentially pick your numbers, hope they get drawn and you could be the winner. Cowrie-shell toss games
Cowrie-shell toss games are simple chance-and-skill pastimes found across South Asia, including Bangladesh. Players shake a handful of cowries in the palms and cast them onto a cloth or tray. Ludo
Ludo is popular in Bangladesh — played at home and on mobile gambling apps. The game, derived from Pachisi, uses a cross-shaped board for 2–4 players. Each player has four tokens that begin in a start area. You roll a die; a 6 is required to enter a token onto your first square and grants another roll.
Tokens move clockwise along the track toward your home column, then into the home triangle by exact count. Landing on an opponent’s token captures it back to start; certain squares are safe. Blockades of two same-color tokens cannot be passed.
