IGT has strengthened its dominance in Canada’s video lottery terminal (VLT) market after securing a contract to supply an additional 720 Sierra27 VLTs to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) this year.

The agreement marks the second consecutive year IGT has been selected through WCLC’s competitive procurement process and further cements the iGaming supplier’s position as the leading VLT provider across Canada.

The new terminals will be deployed throughout WCLC’s venue network across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, replacing and expanding existing gaming infrastructure with hardware and game content developed specifically for Canadian players.

WCLC Vice President of VLT Gaming & Operations Eric Karmark said the procurement followed a competitive selection process.

“WCLC selected IGT through a competitive procurement process, and these additional Sierra27 VLTs will support our venue network with hardware and content designed for the Canadian market,” Karmark said.

“IGT has been a longstanding supplier to WCLC, and we look forward to continuing our work together.”

The order builds on a longstanding relationship between the two organisations and comes as Canadian lottery corporations continue to modernise their VLT estates with newer cabinets featuring enhanced displays, player interfaces and updated game libraries.

IGT Vice President of Sales for Canada and Oregon Chad Helm said the latest agreement reflected the company’s long-standing leadership in the sector.

“As the leading VLT supplier in Canada, IGT is uniquely positioned to help WCLC enhance venue performance and player experiences with proven products and solutions backed by decades of market experience,” he said.

“This significant agreement with WCLC for 720 additional IGT Sierra27 VLTs reinforces the strength of our outstanding collaboration in providing games that excite and engage players.”

The Sierra27 cabinet features dual 27-inch high-definition displays, a 13.3-inch dynamic player panel, dual bash buttons and wireless inductive mobile charging. The platform also supports a library of titles tailored for the Canadian VLT market, including Big City 5’s Diamond, Tiki Tiki Tiki Mayhem and Cash Clim Garden of Hesperides.

The latest deal follows the completion of IGT’s merger with Everi Holdings, creating a combined gaming technology business with operations spanning land-based gaming machines, iGaming, sports betting, fintech and player engagement solutions. Headquartered in Las Vegas, the merged company has identified Canada as one of its key regulated gambling markets, where lottery corporations continue to invest heavily in modernising retail gaming infrastructure.

For WCLC, the agreement ensures its venue partners will continue receiving updated hardware and new content as demand for enhanced player experiences remains strong across Western Canada’s government-regulated VLT network.
