BetMGM has rolled out a package of new sportsbook features and promotions ahead of the 2026-27 NFL season, including injury protection on player props, improved football pricing and expanded Cash Out options.

The operator is putting particular emphasis on BetDefense, which protects eligible player prop bets when a player suffers an injury during the first quarter and is ruled out for the remainder of the game.

For eligible straight bets, BetMGM cancels the wager and returns the player’s stake. If the affected selection forms part of a parlay or Same Game Parlay, the injured player’s leg is voided while the remaining selections stay active.

No opt-in is required for BetDefense, although the feature is subject to jurisdictional restrictions and is not available in Alberta, Massachusetts, Ontario or Puerto Rico.

“Our goal is simple: to give our players everything they need to make the most of football season,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said.

“Bettors want more than just a place to make a wager. They want great pricing, memorable experiences, meaningful rewards and opportunities to stay connected to the action all season.”

The NFL season is due to kick-off in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday night (or 11am Friday, September 11 in Australia) with a clash between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.

BetMGM introduces Odds Flash

Another significant addition is Odds Flash, which gives players access to improved pricing on selected college and professional football spreads.

Rather than simply offering a traditional spread at standard pricing, such as -110, BetMGM can temporarily improve the price. For example, the operator says a featured matchup normally priced at -110 on either side could be offered at -105.

Players can also receive real-time notifications when Odds Flash pricing becomes available or changes.

BetMGM is combining the feature with a wider technical upgrade to its sportsbook, including faster page loading, smoother navigation and better responsiveness when betting live.

Expanded Cash Out functionality will meanwhile allow customers to settle a wider selection of eligible wagers before the final result is known.

BetMGM launches Ultimate Teams

BetMGM has also introduced Ultimate Teams, a free-to-play NFL game running throughout the regular season.

Players can participate once each day from Monday through Friday, collecting teams that they then need to cover the spread during that week’s NFL games.

Prizes include Parlay Boost Tokens, Odds Boost Tokens, Same Game Parlay Boost Tokens and Bonus Bets. Players whose five teams all cover the spread become eligible for a share of a weekly $50,000 Bonus Bets jackpot.

Ultimate Teams runs from September 7, 2026 until January 18, 2027.

However, it is not available in Alberta, Ontario, Nevada or Puerto Rico.

Thursday NFL games get their own promotion

Thursday Night Football will also become a weekly promotional event at BetMGM under its new Legendary Thursdaysoffering.

The operator says customers can expect exclusive bonuses and special odds tied to Thursday night games, although individual offers and availability can differ between jurisdictions and accounts.

BetMGM has also expanded its new-player promotion for football season, offering eligible newcomers up to $1,500 in Bonus Bets if their first wager loses.

That particular offer is not available in Alberta, Ontario, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico or West Virginia. Bonus Bets are non-withdrawable and expire after seven days.

Which US states get the new BetMGM features?

BetMGM currently offers sportsbook promotions across a large part of the regulated US market, including Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Availability nevertheless needs to be considered feature by feature, rather than assuming every BetMGM customer receives the entire football package.

For example, Massachusetts customers cannot use BetDefense, while Nevada customers are excluded from Ultimate Teams and the $1,500 First Bet Offer. State gambling rules can also affect the casino games and individual promotions available.

BetMGM is additionally introducing football-themed casino promotions, live dealer games and as many as 20 NFL team-branded casino titles in jurisdictions where online casino gambling and the individual games are permitted.

Are the new BetMGM NFL features available in Canada?

Only some of them.

BetMGM operates regulated sportsbooks in Ontario and Alberta, with Alberta becoming the company’s second Canadian market when it launched in July 2026.

Canadian customers are receiving a number of BetMGM’s broader sportsbook improvements, including faster performance, expanded Cash Out functionality, improved live betting, enhanced bet tracking and additional betting information.

However, the headline US football promotions have significant Canadian exclusions.

BetDefense is unavailable in both Ontario and Alberta, while Ultimate Teams is also unavailable in both provinces. The $1,500 First Bet Offer announced as part of the football campaign is similarly unavailable in Ontario and Alberta.

BetMGM’s Canadian football-season update instead highlights features including expanded Cash Out, live Same Game Parlays, rolling lines, re-bet functionality and new betting information covering injuries, team performance, line movement and statistics.

Players can also switch odds into an implied-probability percentage display.

What about BetMGM UK?

The US football package should not be confused with BetMGM UK.

BetMGM does operate a sportsbook in Great Britain and offers extensive NFL markets, including moneylines, spreads, totals, touchdown markets and player props. However, its UK sportsbook is operated by LeoVegas Gaming PLC under a UK Gambling Commission licence and has its own promotions and product offering.

As of September 2026, BetMGM UK’s published NFL and promotions pages do not advertise BetDefense, Ultimate Teams or Odds Flash.

The UK sportsbook instead runs locally targeted offers such as profit boosts, accumulator promotions and free bets.

In other words, UK customers can bet on the NFL through BetMGM, but they should not expect the new US BetDefense and Ultimate Teams promotions simply because the same BetMGM branding is used on both sides of the Atlantic.

BetMGM adds football experiences and rewards

BetMGM is also attempting to push its football offering beyond online wagering.

The operator’s BetMGM Rewards program allows eligible customers to turn betting and gaming activity into rewards that can be used for travel, entertainment and hospitality, with a new Rewards Hub bringing promotions, tier progress and rewards management together.

In Las Vegas, BetMGM has opened its Tailgate Beach Club at Mandalay Bay and operates nine retail sportsbooks on the Strip.

Selected retail sportsbooks will also stage free-to-enter season-long Survivor and Pick’Em contests for eligible MGM Rewards members.

The combination gives BetMGM one of its broadest football-season pushes to date, although exactly what a player gets will depend heavily on where they are betting.
