Loto-Québec profit climbs as casino business grows
Loto-Québec has reported higher quarterly profit as stronger casino activity helped lift the Canadian provincial gambling corporation’s results.
Loto-Québec generated net income of C$398.1 million for the 90 days to June 29, according to newly reported financial results.
That represented an increase of approximately 3.6% compared with the corresponding period a year earlier.
The result provides another indication of the scale of Quebec’s government-controlled gambling industry.
Unlike neighbouring Ontario and Alberta, Quebec has not opened its online casino market to privately licensed commercial operators.
Instead, legal online casino gambling is provided through Loto-Québec’s Espacejeux platform alongside the corporation’s lottery and land-based casino operations.
Loto-Québec operates Casino de Montréal, Casino du Lac-Leamy, Casino de Charlevoix and Casino de Mont-Tremblant as part of its wider gaming portfolio.
The latest result follows continued expansion of the corporation’s online casino content.
Swedish supplier Gaming Corps last week announced an agreement to supply Loto-Québec with slots, blackjack, Plinko and games from its Smash4Cash range.
That content is expected to launch during the fourth quarter of 2026.
Quebec’s government-controlled model differs significantly from Canada’s two commercial regulated iGaming markets.
Ontario opened its competitive private-operator market in 2022, while Alberta became Canada’s second province to adopt a regulated commercial model in 2026.
Loto-Québec’s continued profitability illustrates why the province has so far retained its monopoly approach despite pressure for a more open regulatory model.
