Game of Thrones slot launches in four US states
One of BetMGM’s best-performing new Canadian slots has crossed the border, with Game of Thrones now available to online casino players in four regulated US states.
The Blueprint Gaming title has launched through BetMGM Casino in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
It is also available through Borgata Online in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The US release follows the game’s launch at BetMGM in Ontario in April and subsequent arrival in Alberta after that province opened its competitive regulated iGaming market.
BetMGM says the title set several internal performance records during its Ontario debut and subsequently became one of its strongest-performing games in Alberta.
Independent gaming research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming ranked it fifth among Canada’s highest-performing new online casino game launches.
That performance helps explain the relatively large US market rollout.
The game has been developed by Blueprint Gaming in conjunction with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and is distributed in North America through White Hat Studios’ House of Brands platform.
“At Blueprint Gaming, we’re focused on bringing some of the world’s most recognizable entertainment brands to players through our House of Brands portfolio, and Game of Thrones is one of our most ambitious launches to date,” Blueprint Gaming Product Director Charlie Jacka said.
“The game captures the iconic characters, the soundtrack and world of Westeros while delivering a highly engaging slot experience. We’re thrilled to bring this experience to U.S. players.”
The six-reel game offers 4,096 ways to win and is built around the Stark, Lannister, Baratheon and Targaryen houses.
Players progress through features associated with the four houses while working towards the Iron Throne bonus.
A persistent Money Collect feature sits at the centre of the game, with additional dragon modifiers and fixed jackpots.
BetMGM is backing the launch with a series of promotions, including bonus spins, sweepstakes and leaderboard competitions, with a A $25,000 Game of Thrones leaderboard scheduled to run from October 5 to October 11.
The US launch also demonstrates how different the country’s online casino market remains from sports betting.
Legal online sportsbooks operate across most US states, but full real money online casino gaming remains limited to a small number of jurisdictions.
That makes New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia particularly valuable distribution markets for international slot developers.
For Blueprint, the rollout provides a significant US showcase for one of its biggest licensed entertainment brands.
