Kenilworth racing tips

The Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship headlines Saturday’s ten-race card at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, with several promising three-year-old fillies looking to establish their credentials over 1400m.

Over My Shoulder has won both starts impressively for Justin Snaith and Richard Fourie, but faces a significant class test against proven performers including Palace Of Arvernia, who claimed the Grade 2 Golden Slipper during the winter. Stablemate Verse For Suzanne and the progressive Dream Trip are also serious contenders in a competitive feature.

The Grade 3 Cape Mile brings together Durban July winner Note To Self, multiple Grade 1 winner See It Again and defending champion Legal Counsel. The latter could have a fitness advantage over his returning stablemates.

Miami Summer looks a strong chance in the Listed Woolavington Stakes over 2400m, while Babelicious and the consistent Pink Pigeon are leading contenders in the Listed Laisserfaire Stakes.

Below are our selections and form analysis for all ten races at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday, November 7.

Race 1

Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Work Riders’ Mdn Plate

WORKINGCLASSHERO (7) returns from a 66-day break after staying on strongly for third behind STEALTH last time. He has shown enough ability to suggest he can win a race of this nature and should go close if sufficiently forward. Watch the market at betting sites for any hints on WORKINGCLASSHERO’s chances. SHESHELEZA (5) produced a much-improved performance behind AFRICAN WILD DOG on October 4 and retains the blinkers. He looks a serious contender on that effort. LET’S CELEBRATE (3) finished sixth in the same race but was compromised by a difficult draw. Returning to the straight course at Kenilworth should suit and he can improve considerably. GOLDEN GULF (4) looks the best of the remainder but needs to find significant improvement to threaten the principals.

Our tip: 7-5-3-4

Race 2

Join The Race Coast Turf Club Mdn Plate (F & M)

EVELYN JOHNSON (3) made an encouraging debut when finishing just over two lengths behind GETORIX PRINCESS on October 17. She should appreciate stepping up in distance and has a favourable draw, making her a leading contender in a tricky race. ROCK THE ROAD (7) stayed on strongly for second behind FIRST BLOOM last time and that form has subsequently worked out well. She should be competitive again. WILD WEATHER (9) encountered trouble in running before finishing powerfully for third behind FROZEN ASSET on October 7. The additional distance looks ideal and she should be finishing strongly. DESERT ICE (12) is a consistent performer who rarely runs a poor race and deserves consideration in all exotic bets.

Our tip: 3-7-9-12

Race 3

Lucky Fish Hot Hot Fruit Fm 84 Hcp (F & M)

LARK’S SONG (3) finished behind a smart filly on October 17 and should strip considerably fitter for that outing. She has a favourable draw and looks difficult to beat on her best form. ROSE WOOTT (7) returns from a lengthy 276-day absence, having last been seen winning impressively at Kenilworth in February. She has ability but may need the outing and must overcome a tricky draw. FUTURE ENGAGEMENT (2) made a winning debut and looks an exciting prospect. The step up in distance should suit and she carries a light weight, making her a serious threat. MIGHTY MARY (6) took time to find her stride last time but finished strongly and can earn another placing with her customary late effort.

Our tip: 3-7-2-6

Race 4

Cape Mile (Grade 3)

NOTE TO SELF (2) makes his eagerly anticipated return after a 126-day break. The Hollywoodbets Durban July winner is a proven class performer and commands enormous respect, although he may need this outing before reaching peak fitness. SEE IT AGAIN (4) returns from 104 days off the track after finishing second in the Grade 1 HKJC Champions Cup. Andrew Fortune knows him well and should have him finishing strongly, although the 63kg impost is a significant challenge. LEGAL COUNSEL (5) has a fitness advantage after finishing second behind JET FORCE in the Grade 3 Matchem Stakes. He won this race last year and should prove difficult to catch if allowed to dictate the pace. CHASINGTHERAINBOW (3) is better than his latest effort suggests and could finish strongly if the early tempo is genuine.

Our tip: 2-4-5-3

Race 5

Woolavington Stakes (Listed)

MIAMI SUMMER (4) continues to improve and was an impressive winner of the Listed Settlers Trophy at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on September 26. He received an eight-point ratings increase but looks well suited to stepping up to 2400m and can continue his winning sequence. FUTURE FREE (1) returns from a 167-day break after winning the Listed Pocket Power Stakes in May. He is a progressive stayer with plenty of upside and should be competitive from a favourable draw despite his absence. AHEAD OF THE FACTS (6) is the proven class performer in the field and has excellent staying credentials. He returns from 104 days off the track but will be a major threat if sufficiently fit. ERIC LIDDELL (2) should benefit from his recent comeback run and will appreciate returning to a longer distance.

Our tip: 4-1-6-2

Race 6

Laisserfaire Stakes (Listed)

BABELICIOUS (6) produced an excellent effort when finishing second behind DOUBLE GRAND SLAM in the Diana Stakes on September 26. She should be fitter for that outing and represents a stable in excellent form. Her strong finishing ability makes her a leading contender. PINK PIGEON (1) is remarkably consistent, having finished runner-up ten times in 21 starts. She was beaten just under four lengths by OLIVER last time and should be involved in the finish again. LOWVELD LILY (3) returns from a 245-day absence and may find 1100m on the sharp side, but she possesses considerable ability and has Richard Fourie aboard. QUERARI DANCER (4) resumes after 168 days off the track. She disappointed in the Grade 2 Allan Robertson Championship but is a previous Grade 3 winner and could feature if returning to her best juvenile form.

Our tip: 6-1-3-4

Race 7

Western Cape Fillies Championship (Grade 2)

OVER MY SHOULDER (8) has made an excellent start to her career, winning both appearances and impressing with her powerful action. The Justin Snaith-trained daughter of VERCINGETORIX is highly regarded and looks capable of making the step up to graded company, although she will need a career-best performance. VERSE FOR SUZANNE (10) was an emphatic winner at Kenilworth on October 17, drawing clear of LARK’S SONG over 1600m. The drop back to 1400m is not ideal, but she should be finishing strongly. DREAM TRIP (9) produced an explosive late finish to win at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on October 21. That was her first appearance after a lengthy break and she should improve considerably with the step up in distance. PALACE OF ARVERNIA (5) is the proven class performer after winning the Grade 2 Golden Slipper during the winter. She returns from a 104-day break but has the credentials to win a race of this quality.

Our tip: 8-10-9-5

Race 8

Bet With Tote Www.tote.co.za Classified Stakes

WREATH OF SNOW (6) returns from a 66-day break after winning his maiden impressively on September 2. The well-bred colt is highly regarded by his connections and looks capable of following up if sufficiently forward. UNITED FRONT (9) was narrowly beaten in a driving finish at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time and was unfortunate not to win. He should be competitive again with a clear passage. DEVIL A SAINT (8) defeated UNITED FRONT in that contest and received only a two-point ratings increase. He could prove difficult to catch if allowed to dictate the early pace. BEHAVE HARRIS (1) benefits from a favourable draw and should appreciate stepping up to 1400m. He has the ability to earn a placing at attractive odds.

Our tip: 6-9-8-1

Race 9

Lucky Fish Mystic Fortune Mr 96 Hcp

BLACK CHEETAH (5) is better than his latest performance suggests, having endured a difficult passage from a wide draw. He can bounce back to his best form and looks a leading contender in a competitive race. CHURCHILLIAN (8) produced an encouraging comeback effort when finishing second behind IRELAND FOREVER. He should strip considerably fitter and has strong claims. WHAT A FORTUNE (3) returns from a 92-day break after finishing second behind MAPHAKA at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has place prospects if sufficiently forward. GOLDEN DESTINY (1) should be at peak fitness after finishing less than two lengths behind IRELAND FOREVER on October 21. He is consistent and looks capable of a strong performance. This is a difficult race and punters should consider including all four runners in exotic bets.

Our tip: 5-8-3-1

Race 10

Hollywoodbets Bright Future Classified Stakes

MAGMA FLOW (8) stayed on strongly for second behind ALL ABOUT AL at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on October 17. The return to the straight 1000m course at Kenilworth should suit him perfectly and he looks the one to beat on his best form. PEACE OF MIND (6) finished third in the same race and is a consistent performer who should give another good account of herself. AFRICAN WILD DOG (5) broke through for a deserved victory over FAIR FATE on October 4 and could improve further following that success. He looks a strong place contender. PALACE GIFT (12) returns from an 84-day break after winning impressively at Kenilworth in August. He has the ability to feature prominently if jumping on terms and reproducing that performance.
