The opening two matches were one-sided contests and my World Gambling List stablemate William Demamp has started the season on fire, successfully  tipping Richmond and Collingwood to win comfortably against Carlton and the Western Bulldogs respectively.  Demamp also took it to the next level, picking Collingwood ruck ace Brodie Grundy to dominate and win the Bob Rose Medal in the Friday night contest.

It has been a strange start to the season though, with the usual crowds locked out and the matches taking on the feel of something of a clinical training contest. Make no mistake, some teams will be suited by the lack of atmosphere and the ability to be able to hear the calls of their teammates. Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury put on a masterclass of on-field coach against the Dogs, as did Jack Riewoldt against the Blues.

It will be interesting to see how the rejuvenating Swans can go on the road with superstar Lance Franklin back in Sydney tending to his dodgy knee and a new baby daughter, Tallulah.

The matches so far have been relatively high-scoring despite the truncated quarters and that should continue in pleasant conditions in Adelaide. The Crows have won the last couple of matches between these teams, including in Sydney early in the 2019 season.

Adelaide’s favourite son Rory Sloane is lining up for his 200^th AFL match and that should give the Crows the extra impetus they need to get over the line in this one.

The powerful young forward burst on to the scene early but cooled off substantially in his second season and was in and out of the team. We expect him to tag team as the full-forward with Taylor Walker, and we see Fogarty as really putting a stamp on the competition this season.

We expect Sydney to put up a spirited fight but this could be a tough season for them with so many changes flowing through the playing list. They will have a few ups and downs no doubt, but this is a tough ask first-up on the road. Crows to win without blowing the Swans away.

It was not long ago that Adelaide and Sydney were in contention for premierships. Few pundits expect either of these teams to contend even for a place in the finals this season. But we think former Swans players Matthew Nicks, the new coach of the Adelaide Crows, will open his account against his old team. With no Buddy Franklin (knee) marauding around the forward half, it’s difficult to see how the Swans will score heavily enough to knock off the home team. We are tipping Adelaide to win this one by 1-39 points.
