AFL round 3 odds and fixture
The first round of AFL back after the COVID-19-enforced shutdown threw up plenty of upsets and talking points as the Australian Football League heads into round three.
The biggest shock was the Gold Coast Suns’ dismantling of premiership fancies West Coast, though that may well be an indication that teams will take some time to get used to the hub conditions the Eagles faced in the lead-up to the game.
More: AFL betting 2020
All of a sudden West Coast face a vitally important game against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night in what is a clear match of the round for round 3. Lose this one and the Eagles are back in mid-pack and won’t be able to afford many slip-ups given the abbreviated nature of the season.
The Western Bulldogs also face a night of reckoning on Friday against flag contenders GWS at Marvel Stadium. The Dogs were highly touted as premiership smokies in 2020 but have been beyond poor in losses against the Magpies and Saints.
The Gianst also suffered a bad defeat at the hands of undefeated North Melbourne at the weekend so will be primed for a quick bounceback.
AFL 2020 premiership betting update
The Eagles have eased significantly to $7.50 after their loss to the Suns, while the Bulldogs blown like gale, out to $23. But it should be remembered there have been only two rounds, severely disrupted.
Port Adelaide, North Melbourne and Essendon are the only teams left to have both their matches, with the Roos ($26) and Bombers ($34) still not really rated in the race for the flag.
