BETER wins Ontario approval in Canadian expansion push
Sports and esports betting supplier BETER has entered Canada’s regulated gambling market after securing registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
The Gaming-Related Supplier registration allows BETER to provide streams, real-time data and odds to licensed sportsbooks operating in Ontario.
Its offering includes ESportsBattle competitions covering eFootball, eBasketball, eHockey and eTennis, alongside the Setka Cup table-tennis competition and BSKT Cup basketball.
BETER says it supplies pricing and data across more than 740,000 events annually, with up to 50 betting markets available on individual events.
Ontario represents the supplier’s first Canadian regulatory approval and follows BETER obtaining approvals across 10 US jurisdictions.
The company is also seeking approval in Alberta as the province moves towards its competitive regulated online gambling market.
BETER CEO Gal Ehrlich said Ontario would serve as a base for wider Canadian expansion.
“Ontario is an important step in building BETER’s North American business and a significant part of our global growth strategy,” Ehrlich said.
“Canada offers significant potential, and Ontario gives us a strong foundation from which to build a lasting presence across the country.”
Chief Legal Officer Valeriia Tarchynska said the approval demonstrated BETER’s focus on regulated-market expansion.
“Securing our Ontario registration is a significant milestone and reflects BETER’s commitment to meeting the highest regulatory and compliance standards in every market we enter,” she said.
Ontario’s regulated commercial iGaming market launched in April 2022 and has since attracted dozens of online casino and betting sites alongside a growing number of B2B suppliers.
The approval is particularly relevant as BETER now targets Alberta, which is developing Canada’s second competitive provincial online gambling market outside Ontario.
Beter has largely built its success of the back of esports betting, with this the niche that has seen the supplier become popular across the gambling industry.
