BetMGM lands exclusive The Traitors online casino deal
BetMGM has secured exclusive online casino rights to television franchise The Traitors and launched the first game from the agreement in Canada’s regulated Alberta and Ontario markets.
BetMGM announced the agreement with All3Media International on September 18, with it covering intellectual property rights for The Traitors-branded online slots, table games and non-traditional casino games.
The first release, The Traitors: Faithful Riches, is now available through BetMGM Casino in Alberta and Ontario.
“The Traitors has captivated millions with its blend of suspense and strategy,” BetMGM Senior Vice President of Gaming Oliver Bartlett said.
The agreement is intended to form the basis of a wider The Traitors portfolio rather than a single branded game.
BetMGM’s decision to debut the product in the rapidly growing gambling market Canada gives the release particular relevance following Alberta’s launch of a competitive regulated online gambling market in July.
Alberta became Canada’s second province to permit private regulated online casino and sportsbook operators under a provincial framework, following Ontario’s launch in April 2022.
BetMGM (BetMGM review) operates legally in both provincial markets.
The deal also illustrates the continuing battle among online casino operators to secure exclusive entertainment intellectual property as branded slots become an increasingly important way of differentiating otherwise similar game libraries.
All3Media International is part of Banijay Entertainment and distributes The Traitors television format internationally.
BetMGM is jointly owned by MGM Resorts International and Entain.
Could The Traitors/BetMGM tie-up result go international?
The Traitors TV show has become popular in various countries around the globe, including the United Kingdom and USA, where BetMGM operates to varying degrees. This means an international expansion of The Traitors gambling games could be on the cards, and in-fact seems logical.
