Brisbane Lions v Richmond Tigers betting tips and prediction; AFL round 10 preview 2021

Welcome to our Brisbane v Richmond tips, betting predictions and odds analysis for their AFL round 10 matchup at the Gabba on Friday night.

The Lions may have started 2021 slowly, but they have rattled off five successive wins, to move to fourth on the ladder and into $8.50 to win the premiership.

They face a wounded but gutsy Richmond in what looms as a true litmus test of their premiership credentials, with it almost a case of a must-win game to gain confidence in case they run into a stronger Tigers outfit in September.

THURSDAY NIGHT NRL: Cowboys v Newcastle tips

Richmond have been patchy at best but there are excuses with injuries to key players such as Trent Cotchin, Dion Prestia and Nick Vlastuin, while off-field things are going awry, with Shai Bolton and Daniel Rioli the latest to run into trouble in a worrying sign for the reigning champions.

Brisbane will be without important defender Darcy Gardiner for the majority of the season after he suffered a shoulder injury in their thumping of Gold Coast in the Q clash. Ryan Lester will also be out for a lengthy spell with a hamstring injury.

Brisbane Lions v Richmond Tigers betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has examined the betting and found some value Brisbane v Richmond tips:

Jarrod Lyons to have 30 possessions

Brisbane’s midfield has been dominated by reigning Brownlow Medallist Lachie Neale in recent years, but bargain recruit Jarrod Lyons has really stepped up in his absence. Lyons dominated against the Gold Coast with 36 touches and he is offering nice value at $2.20 to do it again.

Dustin Martin to have over 100 AFL Fantasy Points

Some Australian online bookmakers are offering markets on players to score certain amounts of AFL Fantasy Points, with this proving a reasonably easy market to nail for punters. Martin will need to play an absolute blinder for the Tigers to win, just like he did last week.

Richmond to lead at half-time and Brisbane to win (doubles betting)

Some betting sites have got markets on a team to lead at half-time and a team to win. We think Richmond could jump the Lions early, but it’s just a bridge too far to tip them to win. This market is speculative but is offering nice value at $6.95 with Topsport.

Richmond v Brisbane prediction 21/5/2021

Richmond are undoubtedly wounded, but have got some serious talent to filter back into the team in the coming weeks, with captain Trent Cotchin and Dion Prestia nearing returns. Brisbane are missing their own star Neale and now Gardiner, but just look to have a bit more talent on the park at this point in the season. While we will avoid taking the Lions in outright betting, the Tigers +16.5 has some appeal. Our final Brisbane v Richmond prediction? Lions by 11 points.
